  • Publication number: 20120148871
Abstract: The present invention relates to magnesium components with improved corrosion protection. The components are coated with a vitreous binary Mg—X alloy or a vitreous ternary Mg—X—Y alloy, where X is an element selected from the group consisting of the elements of main group III, of transition group III or rare earth elements of the Periodic Table of the Elements, and Y is an element selected from the group consisting of the elements of main group III or IV, of transition group III or IV or rare earth elements of the Periodic Table of the Elements. The coating is produced by means of physical vapor deposition processes, such as cathode ray atomization.

  • Publication number: 20090269236
Abstract: The present invention relates to a corrosion resistant magnesium alloy which can be prepared with a justifiable expenditure of energy from scrap or impure copper containing precursors and displays a ductility such that it can be used as a casting or kneading material. The magnesium alloy contains, relative to the total weight of the magnesium alloy, 1 to 9 wt. % aluminium, 0.6 to 6 wt. % zinc, 0.1 to 2 wt. % manganese, 0 to 2 wt. % rare earth elements, 0.5 to 2 wt. % copper, wherein the weight ratio of aluminium to zinc lies in the range from 1:1 to 2:1.

  • Publication number: 20080193652
Abstract: A method of coating a component on a surface thereof includes applying an organic polyoxazole-containing polymer solution to the surface and, in a further step, drying the applied polymer solution to form a coating on the surface. A coating on a component, more particularly a corrosion-resistant coating, comprises a solution of an organic polyoxazole-containing polymer. The solution is applied to a surface of the component in order to coat the surface. The surface being coated may be metal.
