  • Publication number: 20070136642
Abstract: A data carrier with at least one data recording area (2, 6) in which data recording area data are stored in accordance with a predefined data recording standard, comprises at least one defective area (3, 7) in the data recording area (2, 6), which defective area is designed in such a way that it comes into conflict with at least one parameter of the predefined data recording standard, and further comprises at least one defect localization area (4, 8) containing position information on the position of the at least one defective area (3, 7) on the data carrier (1, 5).

  • Publication number: 20060262656
Abstract: In a drive (20A) for a disc-shaped optical data carrier (10), with a motherboard (14), on which electronic components for the control of drive functions are arranged, with a drive motor (9) for rotating drive of the data carrier (10) and with an optical scanning unit (15) for scanning the data carrier (10) and with transporting means, which are designed for picking up the data carrier and for transporting the data carrier into the drive (20A) and out of the drive (20A), the transporting means are provided by means of the motherboard (14), said motherboard (14) being supported in such a way that it can be moved out of the drive (20A) and into the drive (20A).

  • Publication number: 20060136950
Abstract: To provide alphanumeric data, such as a PIN code, to a smart card (2) a terminal (1) is used which is capable of communicating with the smart card. The terminal comprises a keypad (4) for entering the alphanumeric data and an associated keypad matrix (5) for producing key signals, which the keypad matrix (5) is scanned for any pressed keys using a scanning sequence so as to produce key signals. To securely enter the data without the risk of the terminal intercepting them it is proposed that said scanning sequence is determined by the smart card (2). In this way, the terminal has no knowledge of the actual keys pressed and the secrecy of the alphanumeric data is ensured.
