  • Patent number: 5221196
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines having a reciprocating pump piston and an annular slide displaceable on it, with a control bore that cooperates with a control recess on the pump piston, the recess communicates with a pump work chamber via a conduit. By means of location of control bores in the annular slide, the outflow stream is provided with the longest possible path until the outflow stream strikes the wall of the cylinder liner, in order to attain the freest and most unhindered possible stream course with reduced turbulence. Because the outflow stream strikes the hardened surface of the niche wall of the cylinder liner obliquely, cavitation damage is greatly attenuated or locally limited to sites of maximum resistance.

  • Patent number: 4840161
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines, in particular having a plurality of linearly aligned pump elements, the pump injection onset is determined by one control slide per pump element in which the control slide is axially displaceable on the pump plunger and by a control of relief conduits of the pump work chambers. The control slide is actuated via a torque shaft in that a respective adjusting bolt of a straddling element joined to the torque shaft engages a cross groove of the control slide. The adjusting bolt has a cylindrical stud portion and a slide shoe supported thereon, and the slide shoe is secured against axial displacement by means of a head of the adjusting bolt.

  • Patent number: 4164925
Abstract: A centrifugal rpm governor for fuel injected motor vehicles, in which the control stroke, which is detected by a lever controlled follower on an adapting surface, is enlarged for a more precise control of the adaptation. A translated shift lever is used as the control lever, which is coupled with the governor adjusting member and the lever carrying the follower. To improve the quality of the governor, the shift lever engages an adapting lever, which carries the follower and which is arranged nearly parallel to the intermediate lever. By means of an adjusting member, which is provided with an adapting control and retraction spring, and which is separated in the governor and adapting sleeve, the use of the governor as an idling as well as a maximum rpm governor is made possible.

  • Patent number: 3963014
Abstract: A fuel injection pump for internal combustion engines includes a housing, which defines an elongated chamber, within which serial pumps including, in respective cylinders, pump pistons driven by a cam shaft via respective cams. The elongated chamber is closed by a single cover. A seal is provided between the cover and the housing by an O-ring tightened between an offset provided on the circumference of the cover and an inwardly facing wall of the housing. The offset provided on the circumference of the housing is so shaped, along its surface facing the inwardly facing wall of the housing that the O-ring is primarily stressed axially, with respect to the direction of fastening of the cover, along two sections which extend in the longitudinal direction of the cover and that the O-ring is primarily stressed radially in the region of the housing adjacent to end walls of the housing.

  • Patent number: 3946590
Abstract: An apparatus for adjusting the delivery quantity on multi-cylinder fuel injection pumps including a drive unit and a clamping means for the injection pump in the form of an in-line pump. The pump pistons are provided with at least one control edge and are axially arranged and rotatably guided in cylinder barrels. Each piston is held in its fitting position, at least indirectly, by a flange. A mechanically activatable adjusting tool is mounted in the apparatus and operatively arranged to be driven via a control gear. The tool is force lockingly connected to an application point or engagement point on the securing flange of the injection pump or to a transmission element coupled to the securing flange or the cylinder barrel. A servo motor, preferably a stepping motor, is used to drive a control gear which effects movement of the tool.
