  • Patent number: 8489693
Abstract: A messaging system and method which allows parallel execution of related requests according their context-based sequence. A serialization processor receives each incoming message request from a messaging client, extracts a transaction identifier (TI), searches a state table for the TI, and, if the TI is found active in the state table, stores the request in a serialization queue and makes an entry for that TI with the state “queued” in the state table. After execution of the active request, its entry in the state table is cleared, and the queued request with the same TI is executed, whereupon its entry is changed from queued to active.

  • Patent number: 7926093
Abstract: The present invention discloses a system and method for configuration of access rights to sensitive information handled by a sensitive Web-Service. In a case of requested configuration changes initiated by the client system the Web-Server system provides a configuration data file to the client system preferably using a SOAP-communication protocol. The changes of the configuration data file are exclusively performed offline at the client side and the updated configuration data file is signed with authentication information and sent as a part of a SOAP-request to the Web-Server system. The Web-Server system provides a filter component for identifying and discarding non-SOAP requests as well as an access control manager for providing authentication examination for incoming SOAP-requests. After successful passing these components the SOAP-request is used for updating the existing configuration data file.

  • Publication number: 20080092227
Abstract: A method and apparatus provide security for a network-connected vehicle (or other networked environment) in which a predefined set of permitted operations relating to protected resources can be initiated remotely from elsewhere in the network, while security is maintained for the protected resources (for example, an engine performance optimisation control unit or air conditioning control unit within a vehicle) by preventing remote initiation of any other operations on a data processing unit which is connected to the protected resources. One of a pair of gateway components runs on each of two data processing units within the vehicle (or other environment), the first processing unit being connected to the vehicle's device control units and the second processing unit being connected to the external network.

  • Patent number: 6654910
Abstract: A principle for handling system failure situations thereby maintaining minimum fault recovery time and providing high system availability is described, especially for controlling the system behavior in fault situations of Electronic Control Units used in automotive vehicles. This principle is providing unique solutions for fault analysis, fault recovery definition and system re-vitalization. It is a key attribute of the principle keeping the demand for hardware and software overhead at a minimum. The method applies graceful degradation of system functionality, allowing to achieve the implementation of cost effective systems.

  • Publication number: 20030204549
Abstract: The present application provides an operating system for handling dynamic tasks, especially telematic functions in a motor vehicle, wherein said tasks are created, terminated and subsequently destroyed, characterized in that said operating system is also able to handle static tasks by creating, terminating and subsequently putting said tasks into a suspended state, so that said tasks can be reactivated, if required, without rebuilding any of their resources.

  • Publication number: 20020035590
Abstract: Disclosed is a client/server-based transaction system which comprises a client workstation (300) and a transaction server (310). The client workstation (300) has an application program (320) not having any transaction management resources. The client comprises a transaction interface (325). The transaction server provides an input queue (330), an output queue (340) and a control queue (350). The control queue (350) resides on the transaction server. Start of a transaction (355), depicted as the dotted line, activates the transaction interface which initiates a data flow to the control queue and stores a unique session information. The data flow to the input queue stores a request to the transaction server. The completion of the transaction is signaled by a response in the output queue. The client retrieves this response, and deletes the control queue information in a same Unit of Work.

  • Patent number: 6199160
Abstract: The invention relates to a computer system and method for performing multiple tasks. The computer system comprises a host (2), a communication subsystem (3), a plurality of application programs (1, 2), virtual terminal manager (5), virtual terminals (9, 4), an application programming interface (6), and a cross application program (7) as well as a real terminal T. The logical connections L1, L2 of the application programs to their associated virtual terminals are independent from the logical connections of the respective virtual terminals to the real terminal T. The logical connections l3T, l2T are user selectable by positioning of the software controllable switch 11. A plurality of application programs, for example applications programs (A1, A2), are integrated by the cross application program (7) which has access to the respective virtual terminals (4, 9) via the application programming interface (6) and the virtual terminal manager (5).

  • Patent number: 4631661
Abstract: A fail-safe multiprocessor system comprises processors connected through a switching unit which forms a data transfer channel between the processors. This switching unit comprises mechanical switches that can selectively connect peripheral units (e.g., display units) with one of the processors. The transfer device constitutes, from the standpoint of each of the connected processors, a normal peripheral unit. The switches are set either manually or automatically under program control by each of the processors. In the case of an error or failure, the data processing system is reconfigured such that the high priority tasks together with their associated peripheral units are transferred from the failed processor to a processor which is still intact.
