  • Patent number: 7621702
Abstract: A timing element for a lubricant supply system is capable of using pneumatics for the time of delivery of lubricant for a preset duration. In one example, the timing element has a cavity having an entrance and an exit, a first piston and a second piston. The first piston and the second piston are disposed in the cavity. The first piston is coupled to the second piston in such that compressed air in the entrance of the cavity is capable of moving the second piston and closing the exit. A pneumatic timing element may be incorporated into a dosing unit that is capable of supplying an amount of lubricant in a mist to a plunger bushing of a machine tool without. The duration of the dosing may be controlled solely by pneumatics and may prevent excess pooling of lubricant in bore holes by shutting off lubricant delivery at a preset time.

  • Publication number: 20090166346
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for producing a bond of a first component (2) and of a second component (3) by means of a connecting mass (4), in particular with regard to large-area aircraft components of cylindrical or spherical contour, with the following method steps: (S1) connection of the components (2, 3) by means of the connecting mass (4); (S2) application of a heating element (6) to the first component (2); and (S3) curing of the connecting mass (4) by heating by means of the heating element (6) to produce the bond of the components (2, 3), wherein, during the curing of the connecting mass (4), a force is applied to the heating element (6) and the components (2, 3) by means of a first covering element (8) in the form of a vacuum film by the evacuation of a first cavity (12) in which the components (2, 3) and the heating element (6) applied to them are arranged, and to a corresponding device (1).

  • Patent number: 7430792
Abstract: A device for processing components, and in particular, sections for aircraft, includes a handling system that supports a holding frame. The holding frame includes at least one pressure stamp and/or at least one processing device or unit. By means of the handling system, the processing device is freely positionable in space in relation to the components. Preferably, in the region of the holding frame at least one connection element is arranged. Due to the connection elements, an essentially closed force ring is established between the holding frame and the components so that in an ideal case there is no longer any feedback of reaction forces to the handling system. The connection elements, the processing device and the pressure stamps can be movable by actuators and can comprise integrated force sensors and/or distance measuring sensors.

  • Patent number: 6503029
Abstract: A boring arrangement is connected to a boring machine equipped with a boring bit for boring a hole in overlapping workpieces. The boring arrangement includes a first sleeve connected to the boring machine, and a second sleeve that is movably connected to the first sleeve so as to allow a relative motion therebetween in a boring feed advance direction. Biasing elements such as springs apply a biasing force between the first and second sleeves so as to exert a pressing force through the second sleeve onto a pressing sleeve connected thereto. The boring bit moves through the interior of the pressing sleeve to bore the required hole in the workpiece. Thereby, the pressing sleeve surrounds the boring site and is seated and pressed against the workpiece with a pressing force that is greater than the boring feed advance force exerted by the boring bit onto the workpiece. A suction arrangement sucks away boring chips and other swarf material arising during the boring process.

  • Patent number: 5961258
Abstract: In order to facilitate and reduce the time necessary for clamping together and boring a hole through at least two workpieces that are to be joined together, for example by rivets or bolts, a portable clamping and boring apparatus carries out all necessary operating steps once it is manually positioned at the intended location of the bored hole. The clamping and boring apparatus includes a tool body with a clamp device and a boring device mounted thereon. The clamp device includes a clamping yoke with a clamp jaw element at an end thereof, and a clamping cylinder that drives the clamping yoke in an axial direction toward the boring location, from an open starting position into a clamping position. The boring device includes a pneumatic boring machine adapted to receive a boring bit, and a boring feed advance drive connected to the boring machine to drive the boring bit in a feed advance direction opposed to and coaxial with the clamping direction of the clamp jaw element.
