  • Patent number: 4969679
Abstract: In order to increase the holding capacity of a trunk in the closed position of a top, a top compartment, for accommodating a convertible top, which reaches from above into a partial area of a trunk, at least in sections, is constructed of an elastic flexible material so that the top compartment can be pushed together in vertical direction.

  • Patent number: 4921265
Abstract: A front axle for motor vehicles, especially for the use for different tracks essentially includes a cross bearer secured at the vehicle body as well as wheel guide members retained at the cross bearer by way of joints. The cross bearer is thereby connected at its end with a wheel guide unit which includes a wheel guide member pivotally retained in joints at a longitudinal bearer; the wheel guide member together with the longitudinal bearer is adapted to be fastened as a unit at the cross bearer as well as at the vehicle body by way of threaded means in two track width positions.

  • Patent number: 4819982
Abstract: A fixed folding top for a passenger car extends from a windshield frame to a rear lid and can be swivelled around a stationery swivelling axis extending transversely to the longitudinal direction of the vehicle from a closed position into an open position and vice versa. A cupola-shaped end area of the folding top that in driving direction extends essentially behind a side door, extends with its lower edge to the rear lid. In order to improve the stiffness of the folding top, a plate-shaped element is arranged adjacent to the lower edge of the cupola-shaped end area and is aligned approximately horizontally and, at least with one end that is located in the rear in the driving direction, is connected firmly with the folding top to form an exterior cover in the open position of the top.

  • Patent number: 4664436
Abstract: A device is provided for locking the top of a motor vehicle to the windshield frame of the vehicle. The device comprises a locking member arranged at a forward frame section of the top, a mounting provided at the windshield frame, as well as centering members effective between the top and the windshield frame. The locking member comprises a crank connected with an operating unit, this crank being equipped with a locking pin. The locking pin cooperates with a slotted guide track constituting the mounting, in such a manner that the movement of the locking pin within the track of the slotted guide track means results in a reciprocating motion of the frame section of the top. The device is capable of being advantageously employed in a convertible top vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4440429
Abstract: A shock-absorbing bumper arrangement for a motor vehicle, comprising a cover made of an elastic material and a beam is constructed so as to eliminate the use of hydraulic damper struts by constructing the beam of fiberglass-reinforced plastic (at least in its transversely extending part) and fixing the beam to body frame elements in the manner of a 2-point loaded beam at two locations spaced relatively far apart outside of a middle longitudinal plane of the vehicle. The beam is constructed of a transverse part and approximately longitudinally directed support parts which secure the beam to body frame elements. In accordance with one embodiment, the transverse part and the supports of the beam are unitarily constructed as a single piece, while, in accordance with a second embodiment, the transverse part, which is formed of fiberglass-reinforced plastic, is formed as a part that is separate from the support parts, which support parts are formed of a light metal and plugged into hollow ends of the beam.

  • Patent number: 4157840
Abstract: A vehicle wheel suspension arrangement which includes a wheel guide assembly having a transverse strut at least a portion of which is displaceable in a vehicle longitudinal direction and a form-rigid longitudinal strut. Bearing elements having a variable elasticity pivotally mount the longitudinal strut at the vehicle body with additional bearing elements of differing elasticities mounting the wheel guide assembly at a wheel carrier.

  • Patent number: 4151508
Abstract: A theft protection arrangement for motor vehicles which includes a lock system having a main key and an auxiliary key. Electrical contact switches are operatively associated with at least one of a vehicle door, a vehicle hood, and a vehicle lid for monitoring the conditions thereof. An electrical switching apparatus operatively connects the electrical contact switches with the lock system such that, during an unauthorized entry of the vehicle door, vehicle hood, or vehicle lid, an alarm system is activated and/or parts of the vehicle necessary for a driving operation are disconnected.

  • Patent number: 4015303
Abstract: Supporting apparatus for supporting bridge portions on a portable bridge of the type including a plurality of bridge portions movable from storage positions to positions of use connected to one another in series. The supporting apparatus includes two support legs spaced from one another and swingably supported at respective free ends of a pair of pivotally connected carrier sections. The support legs are further connected with one another by a hydraulic-cylinder arrangement arranged in bypassing relationship to the carrier sections with the holding element designed to absorb relative movement of the support legs resulting from the pivotal connection of the carrier section. Swinging devices are also provided at the free ends of each of the carrier sections for applying forcible swinging movement to the support legs so as to fold same from storage to in-use positions. The pivot axis of the support legs extend at an angle of less than 90.degree. with respect to the longitudinal extent of the support legs.
