  • Publication number: 20160185699
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method of acylating a substituted aromatic compound. The substituted aromatic compound is reacted with an acylating agent in the presence of a macroreticular sulfonic acid ion exchange resin having a water-to-phenol shrinkage between 25% and 40%. The method is very advantageous in that the resin is deactivated much less than other resins without a fast drop in conversion and selectivity in the reaction.

  • Patent number: 6969693
Abstract: Ionic liquids are immobilized on a functionalized support which carries or contains one component of the ionic liquid, or a precursor to such a component. The ionic liquid may be immobilized via the anion by treating a support with an anion source, e.g., an inorganic halide, before the ionic liquid is applied or formed. Alternatively, the ionic liquid may be immobilized by having the cation covalently bound to the support, e.g., through silyl groups, or incorporated in the support by synthesizing the support in the presence of a suitable base. The immobilized ionic liquids are of use as catalysts, for example, for the Friedel-Crafts reaction, such as alkylation reaction.

  • Patent number: 6531595
Abstract: A method is provided for producing &egr;-caprolactam from cyclohexanone oxime by using a zeolite or non-zeolitic material as a catalyst under gas phase reaction conditions. The method comprises a reaction step converting cyclohexanone oxime into &egr;-caprolactam in the presence of the zeolite or non-zeolitic material; and a regeneration step of treating the zeolite or non-zeolitic material with a non-oxidizing gas at a temperature of from about 100°C. to about 600° C.

  • Patent number: 6482945
Abstract: A process is provided for producing &egr;-caprolactam from cyclohexanone oxime. The process comprises a evaporation step of a mixture of cyclohexanone oxime and a solvent by introducing the mixture into a fluidized bed in which inert particles is fluidized by an inert gas, the particles having heat enough to evaporate the mixture; and a rearrangement step of cyclohexanone oxime in the evaporated mixture into &egr;-caprolactam by a gas phase Beckmann rearrangement reaction using a solid catalyst, excluding a catalyst consisting of a boric acid or a boron oxide.

  • Publication number: 20020169071
Abstract: Ionic liquids are immobilised on a functionalised support which carries or contains one component of the ionic liquid, or a precursor to such a component. The ionic liquid may be immobilised via the anion by treating a support with an anion source, e.g., an inorganic halide, before the ionic liquid is applied or formed. Alternatively, the ionic liquid may be immobilised by having the cation covalently bound to the support, e.g., through silyl groups, or incorporated in the support by synthesising the support in the presence of a suitable base.
