  • Patent number: 7122101
Abstract: A sensor including at least one electrode (3, 4) which is made of electrically conductive plastic and is connected to one end of an electrical conductor (5, 6). The electrode (3, 4) and conductor (5, 6) are surrounded by an insulating housing (2, 22), except that the electrode has an exposed surface (7, 8) for contacting an aggressive or corrosive medium inside the housing. The other end (11, 12) of the electrical conductor protrudes from the housing (2, 22). The housing (2, 22) is made of an electrically insulating plastic material which is joined to the electrode (3, 4) in a sealed manner. In a preferred embodiment, the housing (2, 22) forms a valve seat and seal for a bottom drain valve of a fluid container.

  • Patent number: 6651697
Abstract: A fitting, particularly a tap cock, for receptacles such as tank trucks or containers, which includes a housing (2), having an inlet opening (12) and an outlet opening (14), and a rotatable body (4) with a through passageway (48), having an inflow opening (50) and an outflow opening (52). The rotatable body (4) is rotatably disposed in the housing such that when rotated into an open position it facilitates fluid communication between the inlet opening (12) and the outlet opening (14) and when rotated into a closed position, it shuts off such communication. The fitting of the invention enables a large throughput during loading and unloading of the receptacle with little structural change by providing the rotatable body (4) with a second inflow opening (54) having a cross-section at least approximately the same size as the first inflow opening (50), and by providing the housing (2) with a bearing ring (46) or a seat ring (82) in the vicinity of the second inflow opening (54).

  • Patent number: 6640823
Abstract: A fitting including a housing (2), a rotatable body (4) which is situated in the housing and which may advantageously be constructed in the form of a conical plug, a bushing (18) provided in the housing to floatingly mount and seal the rotatable body (4), a cover (14) connected to the housing (2), a shaft (12) coupled with the rotatable body (4) and extended out through the cover (14), and at least one sealing element (30, 44) associated with the shaft (12). The fitting is configured in such a way that the bushing (18), the at least one sealing element (30, 44), and the cover (14) can be positioned and mounted centrally and free from transverse forces in relation to the axis (10) of the floatingly mounted rotatable body (4).

  • Patent number: 6595489
Abstract: A valve that includes a piston (2) linked with a valve body (8) and received in a housing (4), and a packed seal (14) interposed between the piston (2) and the housing (4). Packed seals of valves used for media having high melting points and operating at temperatures close to the melting points risk damage from so-called freezing medium due to the adhesive properties of the medium at temperatures below the melting point. The structure of the valve of the invention is improved by simple measures such that the material of the packed seal reliably operates in the temperature range at which the medium is liquid. The housing (4) is provided with a heating device (16) in the area of the packed seal (14). The axial length of the heating device (16) is longer than that of the packed seal (14) so that the heating device protrudes axially beyond an axial end (22) of the packed seal (16) by a predetermined length (24, 28).

  • Publication number: 20030075876
Abstract: A seal system including a first sealing ring (32), especially a sealing ring of a high-temperature resistant material such as graphite, and a seal chamber (24) disposed between two components (2, 4) which can be joined to each other. The two components define an inner space (5) through which a fluid can flow, and are preferably joined via a flanged connection, with the sealing ring (32) disposed in the chamber (24) under prestress. The seal system provides a functional seal which requires but little space and can be produced and/or assembled at low cost. To this end a partition (34) is disposed in the seal chamber (24) radially inside the first sealing ring (32) with the first sealing ring supported by a radially outer surface of the partition. A second sealing ring, made of a soft sealing material such as polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), is disposed in the seal chamber radially inside the partition (34).

  • Patent number: 6161569
Abstract: A valve including a housing, a rotatable body which can turn inside the housing, and two sealing rings made of sealing material, preferably polytetrafluoroethylene or a similar plastic. The sealing rings are arranged in an axially spaced manner in the housing and rest against the spherical outer surface of the rotatable body and provide a sealing function. The valve is designed with at least one sealing ring having a sealing lip which lies essentially tangential to an outer surface of the rotatable body at a contact surface, and a junction region of the sealing lip is located on a radial interior of the valve housing and is attached to a base body of the sealing ring. The valve is designed such that increased pressure causes the tangential contact surface of the sealing lip to be urged radially inwardly against the rotatable body so that the rotatable body is supported by the junction region in cases of high stress. In this way the rotatable body can be operated with reduced and reproducible torques.

  • Patent number: 5979491
Abstract: A valve arrangement including a housing (2) and a shut-off element (8) with which a shaft (10) is rotatably coupled, the passage of the shaft through the housing (2) being sealed by a sealing element (32). In addition to the first sealing element (32), which is disposed in an annular space between the shaft (10) and the housing (2), a second sealing element (42) may optionally be disposed at least partially within an annular body (3) connected to the housing (2). The valve arrangement is provided in the interior of the housing with a lining (20, 21). The lining (20) of the housing (2) extends at least to the first sealing element (32) with which it is in direct contact. The first sealing element (32), and the optional second element (42), if present, can be compressed by a bushing (48) which is movable axially along the shaft (10). The valve arrangement of the invention has the advantage that it can be upgraded at low manufacturing cost to minimize leakage rates and satisfy strict safety requirements.

  • Patent number: 5971015
Abstract: A check valve having a housing (2, 4) and a ball (22) movably disposed therein on a guide member (28) and driven by a flowing medium, and able to come in contact with a seat (24) due to the force of gravity. The check valve is designed such that, even in case of low pressure differences or small back-flows of the flowing medium, a secure blocking is assured. To this end the guide means is configured as a ridge (28) of plastic which slopes toward the seat, on whose upper edge (30) the ball (22) can roll onto or into the seat (24), and the ridge (28) is disposed entirely within the first housing member (2).

  • Patent number: 5181690
Abstract: A shut-off and regulating valve including a housing in which a valve disk is journaled for rotation, especially with double eccentricity. A metal seat ring is associated with a sealing surface of the valve disk. The seat ring includes an integral seat holding portion and has a radially deformable, resilient sealing lip. This sealing lip is permanently deformed radially outwardly by initial closure of the valve disk and contacts the sealing surface of the valve disk in a resiliently elastic manner. The valve has a simplified structure which exhibits improved sealing tightness and reduces the torque necessary to operate the valve.

The stem (26) is guided outward through a housing cover (20), a first sealing element (50) being provided for sealing purposes. The valve is designed for a minimized leakage rate and high safety requirements. The first sealing element (50) is supported on the underside of the housing cover (20) by an annular disk (54), and a second sealing element (60) is arranged on the upper side of the cover (20), so as to be adjustable, particularly by means of an axially movable bush (62).
