  • Patent number: 6195038
Abstract: A method of automatically determining the position of vehicles by means of the DGPS (Differential Global Positioning System) is proposed, whereby at least one vehicle in the local public passenger traffic and one fixed station receive GPS data which characterize the distance to GPS satellites, where the data of the fixed station are transmitted as correction data 8 via service radio telegrams 5 to the mobile station 6 in the vehicles 1, and where the transmission of the correction data 8 takes place through expansion of the service radio telegrams 5 by at least one information byte 9.

  • Patent number: 6177889
Abstract: The invention concerns a method of controlling at least one transit stop display (1), whereby a vehicle (6) transmits its identification signal and its current location data to a control center (3), which calculates the estimated waiting time (5) until the vehicle (6) arrives at least at one stop (2), and controls the stop display (1) associated with to the respective stop (2) for the visual display of this waiting time (5). To ensure that a switch-over or switch-off of the waiting time display takes place in the vicinity of the stop (2), it is provided that the vehicle (6) transmits a blanking message (9) with a small range x1, for example 100 meters, which triggers a switch-over of the stop display (1) to blanking (5a), when the vehicle (6) approaches the stop (2) within a distance of x2≦x1.

  • Patent number: 6137425
Abstract: The invention relates to a waiting time prediction system for visualizing waiting times until the arrival of at least one vehicle (2), in particular a vehicle of the public transit system, at at least one station stop (5). Hardware and/or software expenses are minimized by including the following components: a first device for determining position data of the vehicle (2), a second device for calculating the remaining expected driving time until the arrival of the vehicle (2) at the station stop (5) based on the measured position data of the vehicle (2) and the known coordinates of the station stop (5), and first and second transmission means for transmitting information from the first device to the second device and from the second device to a station stop display (4), wherein the station stop display (4) can be controlled by this second transmission means to indicate the waiting time.
