  • Patent number: 5864268
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay constructed as a hinged-armature relay in which an armature (5) is attached to a flat-shaped spring (6) which spring is constructed as one piece to serve both as a switch-contact spring and as a return spring and which is mechanically and electrically coupled to a load-current terminal (11), with the load-current terminal having a spring affixing area (11a) and a terminal area (11b), wherein the spring affixing area and the terminal area of the load-current terminal are bendable relative to one another. A response voltage of such a relay can be adjusted in a particularly uncomplicated and quick manner using a wedge-shaped adjusting tool (12) to bend the affixing area relative to the terminal area.

  • Patent number: 5475352
Abstract: An armature support for a hinged relay has beveled bearing surfaces which force the armature, when the armature is displaced, into a rotational movement about a center of a switch contact. In this manner, structural tolerances of the hinged relay, as well as axial play in the armature support, are balanced out to avoid a switch contact displacement.

  • Patent number: 5369872
Abstract: A process for the adjustment of various components of a relay involves use of measuring devices which monitor the respective components as they are slid, or shoved, into mounting positions and, in response to the components achieving correct, or desired, positions, automatically issue signals to welding apparatus to automatically weld the components in these desired positions relative to a base plate. The process of this invention is particularly suited for uncomplicated, cost-effective and fully automatic adjustments of relay components during their assembly, and this is particularly true for small-structure, or micro, relays.

  • Patent number: 5315275
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a normally-open contact tongue (2) with at least one finger (24a) which, during mounting, is first slidably engaged in a drawer-cavity-forming element (25). After adjusting a normally-open contact (3) relative to a movable switch-contact (4a) the position of the at least one finger is affixed in the drawer-cavity-forming element so that the position of the normally-open contact is fixed. The relay of this invention is characterized by having a particularly uncomplicated structure and by allowing a particularly uncomplicated, cost-effective, and fully-automated adjustment of the normally-open contact.

  • Patent number: 5046424
Abstract: A fuze for a bomblet projectile, with the fuze being of the type including a fuze housing, an axially displaceable firing pin mounted in the housing, a slide carrying a detonation charge mounted in the housing and displaceable transverse to the longitudinal direction of the housing between a safety position and an armed position, and spin braking fins pivotally mounted on the exterior of the fuze housing. To provide a further safety measure for the bomblet fuze and to ensure pendulum-free spin braking for safe detonation, the slide is provided with a safety pin and the fuze housing is provided with a corresponding opening such that the safety pin is in operative connection adjacent the opening with a spin braking fin if the latter is not deployed, and thus the slide can be arrested in its safety position.

  • Patent number: 5042389
Abstract: A large-caliber carrier projectile for transporting a payload, with the projectile including an ejection charge and an ejector plate for ejecting the payload from the carrier projectile over a target area. To overcome the problem of the ejector plate colliding with individual bomblets of the payload, and thus causing considerable interference with proper functioning or premature detonations in the air, the ejector plate is an eccentric center of gravity. Alternatively, the ejector plate may be segmented and composed of at least two separable parts which are separated by the action of centrifugal force after ejection from the carrier projectile.

  • Patent number: 4796459
Abstract: An accumulator system for establishing a clamping force on dies in a closed die forging device. The accumulator system includes an accumulator having a differential piston and a free piston. The small end of the differential piston forms a wall of the accumulator oil chamber hydraulically connected to variable volume oil chambers behind the dies. The big end of the differential piston and one side of the free piston form a low pressure gas chamber of the accumulator. The other side of the free piston forms a wall of a high pressure gas chamber of the accumulator. As the dies of the forging apparatus close, oil in the chambers behind the dies moves the differential piston against only the gas pressure in the low pressure gas chamber so that closure is essentially without impact.

  • Patent number: 4552608
Abstract: A system (50) includes a labeling machine (52) and a digital data processing system (54) connected to the labeling machine (52). A cutter (56) of the labeling machine (52) has a shaft (58) with a mark (60), which is sensed by a sensor (62). The sensor (62) supplies shaft (58) information on line (64) to digital data processing system (54). The digital data processing system (54) supplies control signals on line (64) to feed roll (66) stepper motor (67). The digital data processing means (54) is also connected to an optical sensor (76) by line (78). The optical sensor (76) senses the position of position mark (74) on the labels (70), which is correlated with the position of shaft (58) in order to feed the labels (70) to the cutter (56) at the proper rate so that the labels (70) are always cut at the kerf (72) between each label (70).

  • Patent number: 4545832
Abstract: Method and apparatus for heat shrinking projecting edges of heat shrinkable (but unshrunken) film onto articles such as cylindrical containers. The film is tightly wrapped around the bodies of the articles and the overlapping ends are held together by glue. The projecting edges of the articles are then heat shrunk onto the shoulders and/or curved lower ends of the bodies as the containers are transported and are caused to spin while being transported. In so doing the hot air is blown in a direction such that it does not blow directly onto the glue at the side seams. This may be accomplished by using a circular, turret type transport and by having blowers which blow hot air obliquely, rather than radially at the articles. Where the articles are closely packed, each article acts to shield the next article when its side seam is parallel to the flow of hot air.
