  • Patent number: 6129064
Abstract: A liquid-cooled cylinder head for a multicylinder internal combustion engine. The cylinder head has a coolant chamber in which gas exchange passages running in the direction of a transverse engine axis and at least one chamber for a spark plug and/or an injection nozzle are arranged. Also, bolt pipes for distributing the bolt tension forces of the cylinder head bolts are provided, the cylinder head being joinable to a crankcase of the internal combustion engine with interposition of a cylinder head seal. The bolt pipes have ribs formed by thickened configurations of adjacent wall sections of the gas exchange passages in the region of the cylinder head bolt. A high, uniform surface pressure on the cylinder head seal is thereby enabled, even in the regions between the cylinder head bolts, and even when space is restricted.

  • Patent number: 5944365
Abstract: A pipe clamp with a headed bolt for securing a pipe connection, in particular pipes of the exhaust system of a motor vehicle which are to be connected to one another, in the case of which the end of a first pipe is pushed into an axially slit end of a second pipe and, when the headed bolt is tightened, the pipe clamp, fitted on the slit pipe end, connects the two pipe ends to one another in a frictionally locking manner, is to be secured against a reduction in clamping force. For this purpose, the pipe clamp is formed of a material which has a higher coefficient of expansion than does the material of the pipes which are to be connected. The head of the headed bolt is elongated, in order to avoid impermissibly high local stressing during tightening of the pipe clamp. Due to the elongate form of the head of a headed bolt, the forces on the pipe clamp which support the tightening torque are reduced by a lengthening of the lever arm with respect to the axis of the headed bolt.

  • Patent number: 5193413
Abstract: The invention relates to connecting rods for piston engines, made of sintered metal, the connecting-rod shank consisting of two individual booms separated from one another. The object is to connect the individiual booms to the connecting-rod eyes in such a way that the danger of buckling is effectively minimized. The object is achieved in that the arrangement of the connection of the individual booms to the connecting-rod eyes takes place at such an angle and these connections are made so smoothly by means of transitional radii that the force flux between the connecting-rod eyes and the individual booms has an optimum course.

  • Patent number: 4817454
Abstract: A rotary body adapted to be subjected to centrifugal forces, with the rotary body including a load ring carried by a wheel disk or the like. The load ring is defined between two enveloping or surrounding cylindrical surfaces which respectively define the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the load ring. The inner cylindrical surface has a diameter D.sub.i with the outer cylindrical surface having a diameter D.sub.a. At least one axially extending vacant bore is arranged in the load ring, with the bore being disposed at a position spaced from a center of rotation of the rotary body by a distance which is less than 1/4 (D.sub.i +D.sub.a).

  • Patent number: 4523916
Abstract: An axially flexible drive disc of sheet-metal for vehicle propulsion includes a centrally disposed flange for attachment to the end of the drive shaft of the vehicle propulsion engine and is connected at its external circumference at a few, preferably three, fastening points, located evenly distributed around the periphery, to the input element of the adjacent gearbox. The gear box includes a hydrodynamic torque converter as the input element with the converter housing simultaneously assuming the flywheel function for the vehicle propulsion engine.
