  • Patent number: 4965986
Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for forming, filling and sealing bag-type packages. For certain filling products it is advantageous to "strip" or flatten the bag-type package prior to sealing, i.e. to ensure that the bag is volumetrically displaced. As a result all bag-type packages are tightly filled despite varying specific weight of the filling product. This object of the invention is achieved by return conveyance or feed of the bag hose or tube and passage of the latter through a constrictive location. An advantage of the apparatus resides in the possibility of achieving high production speeds by virtue of small moved masses.

  • Patent number: 4757668
Abstract: To provide for continuous feed of a packaging film, the film into a tube, filling the tube into packages and severing the packages, markers are located longitudinally along the film for example of plastic; the film is fed and formed into a tube by a pulling mechanism, the drive of which is synchronized with the bag-forming operation as such, that is, sealing and severing tube portions, under control of the markers so that slippage between drive rollers or units and the film being fed or inaccuracies in operation of the filling mechanism are immediately compensated by change in speed of the drive unit or operation of the filling and bag-forming mechanism to maintain relative alignment of bag closing with respective areas on the film, preventing accumulation of positioning errors and hence possible misalignment of printed information on the film with respect to the closing seams of the bag.

  • Patent number: 4738287
Abstract: To fill low-weight, high-volume goods, such as potato chips, popcorn and the like into bags as the bags are being made, the fill goods are introduced into a hopper and a filling funnel which is joined to a fill tube. The fill tube has air inlet openings at the upper portion, air outlet openings at the lower portion, and then continues to a holder and bag-forming tube. A film (102), for example, of plastic, is wrapped about the bag forming tube (105), and seamed vertically, so that the tube is being made as goods are introduced into the hopper and funnel. An air stream (B) is generated longitudinally in the fill tube (103) by introducing air under above-atmospheric pressure into the upper air inlet openings (104) formed as downwardly directed flap nozzles (119), the air being removed from lower openings (122) and, for example, recirculated in the recirculating blower (107), the openings being closed off outwardly by a jacket forming respective air inlet and outlet chambers (111,116).

  • Patent number: 4713047
Abstract: To provide for uniform pressure, under predetermined conditions, of application of closure sealing jaws for a bag making machine, to close thermoplastic tubular foils, a hydraulic pressure element (7;26,28) applies the pressure of a pressure jaw (1) against another (2), with the foil interposed; the hydraulic pressure is sensed by a transducer (11), converted into an electrical signal and compared with a command set signal (22), any error or deviation being fed back in a closed loop to a servo positioning valve (13,15) to thereby set the hydraulic pressure with which the movable jaw (1) is applied against a fixed jaw (2) in accordance with commanded value.

  • Patent number: 4553377
Abstract: For producing transverse seams on tube bag machines, two conjointly, oppositely moving sealing tool jaws (15, 16) are provided, which are movable on a carriage (6) during the sealing process. For driving the sealing tool and selecting an appropriate stroke length, the frame (5) on which the carriage (6) rests is movable up and down by a pair of coupled cam-actuated levers (19). The axes of rotation (34) of two levers (19), and thus the distances travelled by their uncoupled, flapping ends, are adjustable along the lengths of the levers. This is accomplished by turning a spindle (3) bearing oppositely wound screw threads, which sets adjustment bodies (30) with sliding blocks (4) for the two-armed levers (19).Thus, packages of varying heights can be efficiently sealed, since the sealing mechanism always seals in the middle of the package height, regardless of stroke length selected.
