    Abstract: An oil pan held on a crankcase of an internal-combustion engine has a flat, plate-type bottom and an oil sump. The flat bottom is connected by means of supports directly to central bearing seats of the crankshaft. This significantly improves the sound radiation of the oil pan and the rigidity of the bearing seats.
