  • Patent number: 8763781
Abstract: An escalator or a moving walkway includes a support structure and a soffit plate. A first side edge region of the soffit plate is fixedly connected with the support structure. In addition, the soffit plate is biased between the first side edge region and a second side edge region, which is opposite the first side edge region, by a predetermined biasing force. In order to maintain the bias the second side edge region is fixedly connected with the support structure, wherein through the maintenance of the biasing force a stiffness of the support structure is increased and in operation of the escalator or the moving walkway the output of noise is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20100320058
Abstract: The invention relates to a tread element (20) for a conveyor such as an escalator or moving sidewalk. The tread element (20) comprises a tread plate (22) having a tread surface (22.1) and a strip (30), preferably of a plurality of strip elements (40, 50) on the tread surface (22.1). A fixing arrangement has a first groove element and a second tongue element, one element being attached to the tread plate (22) and the other element to the strip elements. The two elements cooperate to prevent movements of the strip elements (40, 50) relative to the tread element (20) from the tread surface (22.1) away. Interacting stop surfaces on the strip elements and on the tread plate are designed to prevent movements of the strip elements in the direction of mounting, opposite to the direction of mounting and perpendicular to the direction of mounting and in parallel to the tread surface (22.1).

  • Patent number: 6527103
Abstract: A cleaning device for guide elements in the form of slide blocks utilized in escalators and moving walkways allows contaminants in escalators and moving walkways allows contaminants, which accumulate on the escalator and moving walkway base plates, against which the slide blocks run, to be removed during escalator moving walkway operation. Cleaning slide blocks are provided at at least one of the escalator steps or moving walkway plates instead of the slide block guide elements. The cleaning blocks may be formed of a thermoplastic synthetic material with a relatively high proportion of glass fibers. The glass fibers scrape the contaminants from the base plates during escalator moving walkway motion.

  • Patent number: 5988350
Abstract: The present invention relates to an aluminum die-cast escalator step with a reinforcing addition, by means of which the load capacity and thus the fracture load limit of the step body (1) 15 increased. In an unchanged compact step body (1), a stiffening section (6) is fastened in the transverse direction at the rear part at its underside (16). Side struts (15) are reinforced by enclosing side parts (7, 8) wherein the rims of the side surfaces of the side parts (7, 8) lie against the underside (16) and against the rear side (17) of the step body (1). A metal ring is welded to the side plate and encloses the stub axle pin of the step body. The stiffening section (6) has an asymmetric U shape.
