  • Patent number: 4525968
Abstract: All-metal heat insulation, including building blocks which can be joined together, the building blocks each including metallic foils being thermally movably supported and mutually spaced apart from each other forming insulating cells therebetween, spacer strips for maintaining the mutual spacing between the foils, and at least two housing plates at least partly surrounding the foils and spacer strips and being disposed at a given distance from each other, the spacer strips being adjacent to each other and being fastened to at least one of the housing plates, the spacer strips being mutually spaced apart from each other at a distance at least equal to the thickness of one foil forming receiving pockets for the foils at least at one of the plates, the foils being shorter than the given distance between the housing plates and being slideably fitted in the receiving pockets.

  • Patent number: 4495147
Abstract: Heat retarding closure system for partitions having pressure relief openings formed therein especially in nuclear reactor buildings where main coolant nozzles of a reactor pressure vessel penetrate a biological shield, including lightweight construction closure elements having a side facing the reactor and anchors for holding the closure elements, the closure elements being pushable out of the anchors by an overpressure in a given pressure difference direction on the reactor side, and an outer sealing blowout skin, the closure elements being in the form of heat-retarding cassette inserts having a front surface with a peripheral shearing edge formed thereon resting against the blowout skin, and the blowout skin having a given thickness in the given pressure difference direction enabling the cassette insert to shear off the blowout skin and be pushed out of the anchors when a given pressure difference is at least reached.

  • Patent number: 4425963
Abstract: Heat insulation for domeshaped bottom and/or cover regions of a pressure vessel, the heat insulation being penetrated by a multiplicity of pressure vessel unions extending parallel to the axis of the pressure vessel, including an integral dome formed of heat insulation having a passage formed therein for each of the pressure vessel unions, guide elements extending parallel to the axis of the pressure vessel for centering the heat-insulation dome with respect to the pressure vessel and for axially movably mounting the heat-insulation dome so that it can be lowered from a largely convection-proof operating position thereof to a storage position thereof onto an assembly platform, whereby the union passages of the pressure vessel are exposed for in-service testing, and can be raised back to the operating position thereof.

  • Patent number: 4418724
Abstract: Heat insulating casing for structural components having curved surfaces, including insulating plates formed of compressed material based on pyrogenic silica, reinforcement fibers and on an opacifier, the insulating plates being divided into insulating elements having trapezoidal cross sections, and the insulating elements being combined to form a polygonal insulating shell.

  • Patent number: 4412408
Abstract: Heat-insulation building block of all-metal construction variable in size and having mutually spaced thermally displaceably mounted metallic insulation foils defining insulation cells therebetween together with spacer elements holding the insulation foils at a distance from one another, as well as metal housing sheets carrying and at least partly enclosing the insulation foils and the spacer elements, including at least two building block parts nested within one another with the metal housing sheets and the insulation foils thereof having a mutual convection-inhibiting sliding fit and, in sliding direction of the mutual sliding fit, the adjacently disposed insulation foils and metal housing sheets having respective overlap lengths greater than a predetermined maximum enlargement of the building block resulting from sliding apart of the building block parts in the sliding direction.
