    Abstract: A method for coding facsimiles which are acquired when scanning originals containing halftone areas. In order to eliminate moire and/or for the purpose of a data compression, a coding of the halftone areas corresponding to an unsharper imaging in comparison to the original is executed such that the so-called halftone raster is suppressed. The method provides that a detail area is defined with a respective halftone area and is coded with a "detail code". At least a remaining area of the halftone area is coded with an "unsharp code". The method offers the advantage of the possibility of an improved detail reproduction given simultaneous suppression of a moire and given a good data compression.

    Abstract: A method for automatic skewed position correction in acquisition of a text original in the form of digital scan results to be used for further processing. Before their further processing, the scan results are subjected to a skewed position identification in a first step and are subjected to an electronic rotation in a second step. The angle of the skewed position is identified according to a prescribed optimization method by generating a sequence of systematically selected search angles and directional criteria allocated to these search angles, and employing the angle for the electronic rotation. An interval nesting is preferably employed as the optimization method.

    Abstract: A process for facsimile coding in which the items of information contained on a two-color original are scanned line-by-line for the purpose of transmission, in which the length of sequences of a first of these colors is represented by first code words consisting of a given first number of binary characters, and the lengths of sequences of the second color are represented by second code words consisting of a second number of binary characters, and in which the first and second code words are followed by third code words when the binary characters are not sufficient for coding the corresponding sequences, provides that the number of binary characters in the third code words is equal to the sum of the number of binary characters of the first code words and the number of the binary characters of the second code words. In a transmitter a coder is provided for the production of the code words, and in a receiver a decoder is provided for decoding the code words.

    Abstract: In facsimile coding in which the items of information contained on a two-color original consisting of individual surface elements are scanned for transmission, and in which sequence lengths are represented in lines by code words composed of binary characters, and in which a line synchronizing word is produced at the beginning of the coding of each line, address words are inserted after the line synchronizing word after a given number of transmitted binary characters, each address word indicating an address of a specific surface element of a sequence. A coder is provided in a transmitter for producing the code words and a decoder is provided in a receiver for decoding the code words.
