Publication number: 20150338629Abstract: A microscope includes an illumination device having a light source and two current control devices. Each of the current control devices has a target value input and a measuring resistor arrangement. The current control devices supply a through-current for the light source and control a level thereof by way of a potential difference across the measuring resistor arrangement on the basis of a signal provided at the target value input. An adjustment device is configured to set two different illumination types of the microscope. The adjustment device and the illumination device are operatively connected to each other such that setting a first illumination type switches the illumination device into a first current configuration, in which at least one current control device supplies no through-current, and setting a second illumination type switches the illumination device into a second current configuration, in which at least one control devices supplies a through-current.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 26, 2013Publication date: November 26, 2015Inventors: Jochen SIEPER, Wolfgang RENTZSCH, Robert MAINBERGER

Patent number: 7262907Abstract: A microscope includes an eyepiece, an illumination beam path for illuminating a specimen, and a detection beam path for imaging the specimen. A microscope operator interface is also provided, as well as an image overlay device for overlaying an image of the microscope operator interface onto the detection beam path so that the image of the microscope operator interface together with an image of the specimen is presented at the eyepiece. Also provided is at least one operating apparatus for interacting between the operator and the microscope operator interface.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2004Date of Patent: August 28, 2007Assignee: Leica Microsystems CMS GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Rentzsch

Patent number: 7057162Abstract: An apparatus and a method of the present invention positions an optical component among several optical components, which are arranged in a receiving device. The receiving device is rotatable about an axis or movable along a direction in such a way that an optical component is positionable and the receiving device is retainable in a retention position. A coding device having first and second coders and two detectors are also provided. Either the coding device or the two detectors are associated with the receiving device and the two detectors detect the first and second coders at spatially different points. The coding device is embodied in such a way that the two detectors detect the first coder simultaneously when the receiving device is in a retention position and no more than one detector detects the second coder when the receiving device is in a region between two adjacent retention positions.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 2003Date of Patent: June 6, 2006Assignee: Leica Microsystems Wetzlar GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Rentzsch

Patent number: 6738558Abstract: A microscope with a viewing tube for visual observation of a specimen by an observer, with a control circuit for controlling electrical and/or electro-motor-driven microscope functions, and an illuminating device for illuminating the specimen to be observed is described. The control circuit is connected to a proximity sensor installed on the microscope, which responds to the presence of the observer to the viewing tube. The control circuit includes an adjustable time-delay logic element located in the control circuit for delaying switches of the microscope functions such that the microscope functions are switched after the observer is absent for a predetermined time period.Type: GrantFiled: April 18, 2002Date of Patent: May 18, 2004Assignee: Leica Microsystems Wetzlar GmbHInventors: Helmut Ruehl, Wolfgang Rentzsch

Publication number: 20040061861Abstract: The present invention concerns an apparatus and a method for positioning an optical component, several optical components being arranged in a receiving device (1); the receiving device (1) being rotatable about an axis (3) or movable along a direction in such a way that an optical component is positionable and the receiving device (1) retainable in a retention position corresponding thereto; a coding device (4) having coding means (5, 9), and two detectors (6, 7) detecting the coding means (5, 9), being provided; the coding device (4) or the two detectors (6, 7) being associated with the receiving device (1); and the two detectors (6, 7) detecting coding means (5, 9) at spatially different points; and in order to achieve detection of the position of the receiving device (1) with reduced component complexity for the coding means (4, 5, 9) and detection means (6, 7) as well as a decreased manufacturing time associated therewith, is characterized in that the coding device (4) is embodied in such a way that on thType: ApplicationFiled: September 25, 2003Publication date: April 1, 2004Applicant: LEICA MICROSYSTEMS WETZLAR GmbHInventor: Wolfgang Rentzsch

Publication number: 20010024321Abstract: A microscope (1) with a viewing tube (2) for visual observation of a specimen (12) by an observer, with a control device (7) for controlling electrical and/or electric-motor-driven microscope functions, and a lighting device (14) for illuminating the specimen (12) to be observed is described. The control device (7) is connected to a proximity sensor (4) installed on the microscope (1), which responds to an approach of the observer to the viewing tube (2). On the basis of the sensor signal, those microscopic functions which are needed for observing the specimen, on the one hand, but can damage sensitive specimens by heat transfer of the lighting radiation or could impair the imaging of the specimens, on the other, are either switched off, or the strength of their effects on the specimen is reduced.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 14, 1999Publication date: September 27, 2001Inventors: HELMUT RUEHL, WOLFGANG RENTZSCH
