  • Patent number: 6559267
Abstract: A moulded article comprising thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) that exhibits reduced fogging is disclosed. Characterized in having condensate value of <2 mg/10 g of TPU in accordance with the fogging test of DIN 75201B, the TPU is the product of reacting A) an organic diisocyanate, with B) polyester polyol that contains less than 0.2% of 1:1 ring esters of dicarboxylic acid and diol and C) a chain extender. The moulded article is particularly suitable for use in the automotive sector.

  • Publication number: 20030032754
Abstract: A thermoplastic molding composition comprising soft polyurethane is disclosed. The polyurethane is prepared by reacting, optionally in the presence of (D) a catalyst, A) hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI), optionally along with one or more aliphatic diisocyanate other than HDI, B) a polyol having a number-average molecular weight of 2,500 to 10,000 g/mol, selected from the group consisting of polyoxypropylene glycol, polyoxyethylene glycol and copolyoxyalkylene diols based on propylene oxide and ethylene oxide, optionally along with additional, different polyols and C) a chain extender having a number-average molecular weight of 60 to 500 g/mol. The polyurethane that is characterized in that its equivalent ratio is 1.5:1.0 to 30.0:1.0, and its NCO index is 95 to 105, is suitable for making articles having reduced mechanical properties and high thermal properties.

  • Patent number: 6355762
Abstract: A process for the continuous preparation of melt processable polyurethane elastomers having improved softening behavior is disclosed. The process entails reacting a polyisocyanate, a polyol and a chain extender, which have a temperature of at least 170° C., in a static mixer, wherein the reaction mixture is prepared. The reaction mixture is then metered into an extruder into which optional auxiliaries and/or further components are fed.
