  • Patent number: 5405532
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for treating industrial waste water which comprises either: (a) pre-treating the waste water with at least two different pre-treatments selected from adsorption, membrane filtration and oxidation and then, biologically purifying the waste water or, (b) neutralizing and biologically purifying the waste water and then after-treating the waste water either by membrane filtration in combination with adsorption or oxidation or, by oxidation optionally in combination with adsorption or filtration on a nanofiltration membrane or, by filtration on a nanofiltration membrane.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 29, 1994
Date of Patent: April 11, 1995
    Assignee: Sandoz Ltd.
Inventors: Richard Loew, Wolfgang Samhaber, Anton Wyss

  • Patent number: 4749456
Abstract: An electrolytic cell which has at least one three-dimensional cathode of non-galvanizable material, which cell is useful in removing metal ions or complexed metals from industrial waste water for example such as produced in the production and use of complex metal dyestuffs.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 6, 1987
Date of Patent: June 7, 1988
    Assignee: Sandoz Ltd.
    Inventor: Wolfgang Samhaber
  • Patent number: 4695551
Abstract: The sampling apparatus for a biological reactor comprises a probe housing which is connectable to a connection port of a bioreactor. A probe located within the probe housing contains a head region having a semipermeable membrane which permits the passage or throughflow of culture filtrate, but does not allow the entrance of cells. In order to avoid clogging of the semipermeable membrane, this probe is connected with a vibrator which imparts or transmits to the semipermeable membrane a preferably continual vibrating motion which preferably acts in the axial direction of the probe.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 21, 1986
Date of Patent: September 22, 1987
    Assignee: Proton AG
