  • Patent number: 5709715
Abstract: The silicon or silica substrates described have a modified surface of a new type occupied by the alcohol fraction of an orthoester. The alcohol fraction may be saturated or unsaturated. The surface of the substrate is modified by being treated with an orthoester, the water being eliminated from the surface by hydrolysis and then replaced by the resulting alcohol or silylether. Besides many other compounds, new orthoesters having the formula R.sup.1 C?OCH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --O--CO--CH.dbd.CH.sub.2 !.sub.3, in which R.sup.1 stands for hydrogen or for a clearable organic residue, R stands for (CH.sub.2).sub.n, in which n stands for an integer between 1 and 18, and new orthoesters having the formula (I), are particularly appropriate. In the formula (I), R.sup.1 stands for hydrogen or an organic residue, R.sup.3 stands for hydrogen or an alkyl group with 1 to 6 carbon atoms; and R.sup.4 stands for hydrogen, an alkyl group or an alkyl group or a phenyl group.

  • Patent number: 5176780
Abstract: An adhesive having a content of a thermically curable oxazene resin which contains at least one 1-oxa-3-aza tetraline group in the molecule, optionally in combination with at least one curable epoxy compound, is used for bonding polyimide films to films of the same kind or to other substrates, particularly metal foils. Such bondings are highly heat-resistant and have an excellent peeling resistance. Therefore, they are suitable for the manufacture of printed circuit boards having high thermal stability and peeling resistance.

  • Patent number: 5021484
Abstract: A resin which may be cured to form a polymeric resin which is diffcultly inflammable and resistant to high temperatures, said resin being a mixture of(a) a resin component comprising at least one thermically curable 1-oxa-3-aza tetraline group containing compound and optionally a curable epoxy compound; and of(b) a second component comprising at least one flame retardant selected from the group consisting of: aluminum hydroxide; hydrated calcium magnesium carbonate; magnesium hydroxide; element red phosphorus, oxygen acids of phosphorus; inorganic salts of oxygen acids of phosphorus; organic salts of oxygen acids of phsophorus; polyphosphates; boric acid; salts of boric acid.

  • Patent number: 4986443
Abstract: The invention provides a method and an apparatus for discharging a substance contained in a cartridge or the like from the cartridge. The substance is prevented from flowing out by a sealing member provided at the outlet of the cartridge. To open the cartridge, a relative displacement between the cartridge and a coupling member mounted on the connection piece of the cartridge is effected to thereby open the sealing member by way of a cutting member provided in the coupling member. The sealing member is opened at least to such an extent that it releases the flow path of the substance contained in the cartridge fully or partially due to the pressure exerted on the sealing member by the substance contained in the cartridge during an initial phase of the discharge operation.

  • Patent number: 4986867
Abstract: The present invention generally relates to the mounting of windows in a frame, particularly to the mounting of windows of a vehicle, e.g. an automobile, in the body frame work. The invention provides a method for manufacturing a window ready to be mounted comprising, along its edges, a first profiled bead of adhesive material, already cured and having the general cross section of a U-profile. This first bead is elastic but not plastically deformable. The first bead comprises in its interior a second bead of plastically deformable not yet cured adhesive material consisting of a substance chemically compatible to the material of the first bead. The second bead, serving as the real adhesive material, is protected from environmental influences e.g. by covering it by a protection foil which is removed just prior to mounting the window.

  • Patent number: 4957955
Abstract: Plastisols of 80 to 5% by weight plasticizer and 20 to 95% by weight particulate polymer containing(a) from 5 to 60% by weight acrylonitrile, methacrylonitrile or mixture thereof(b) from 15 to 95% by weight styrene, .alpha.-methyl styrene or mixture thereof(c) from 0 to 10% by weight of a carboxylic acid copolymerizable with the monomers (a) and (b),(d) from 0 to 30% by weight and, in the absence of component (c), from 10 to 30% by weight of an alkylester of acrylic acid, methacrylic acid or mixtures thereofoptionally a diluent and other constituents, the percentages by weight of plasticizer and polymer being based on the sum of plasticizer and polymer and a process for making such plastisols.

  • Patent number: 4672100
Abstract: A chemically-hardening two-component material based on polyurethane is provided, having a first component being a prepolymer with isocyanate end groups and a second component being a product which has been obtained from that prepolymer with isocyanate end groups by reacting it with a reactive compound which has at least two active groups, containing active hydrogen and which do not react identically with isocyanate. The prepolymer is a reaction product of an aliphatic or aromatic di-isocyanate with a polyol.Such a material can be produced by reacting a prepolymer which contains isocyanate end groups, with a second component, which, in turn, has resulted from a prepolymer with isocyanate end groups by reacting with a reactive compound which has at least two molecule groups, containing hydrogen and reacting differently with isocyanate. The material is especially suitable as a self-hardening gluing, coating, sealing and molding material.
