  • Patent number: 5547953
Abstract: Substituted 1-oxo-1,2-dihydroisoquinolinoylguanidines and 1,1-dioxo-2H-1,2-benzothiazinoylguanidines, a process for their preparation, their use as medicament or diagnostic agent, and also a medicament containing them. Acylguanidines I ##STR1## with X equal to carbonyl or sulfonyl; R(1) equal to H, (cyclo)alkyl, phenyl; R(2) equal to H, alkyl, and their pharmaceutically suitable salts, are described. They are obtained by reacting a compound II ##STR2## with guanidine. The compounds have no unwanted salidiuretic but very good antiarrhythmic properties. They are able, as a consequence of inhibition of the cellular Na.sup.+ /H.sup.+ exchange mechanism, to be used for the treatment of all acute or chronic ischemia-induced damage.

  • Patent number: 5461800
Abstract: An integrally molded midsole for an athletic shoe having tubular suspension members is disclosed. The tubular suspension members behave as springs and have spring constants which may be designed for a particular application by choice of the tube length, the tube wall thickness or the hardness of the tube material. Preferably, the midsole is made of an elastomer such as HYTREL that is cast in a preformed shape and thereafter subjected to substantial compressive forces so that the tubular springs take a compression set and thereafter perform as near-ideal springs.

  • Patent number: 5375604
Abstract: Patient monitoring apparatus for use in an environment which includes a communications network and a plurality of sensors. The apparatus provides collection and display of patient data signals collected from a medical patient using the sensors. The apparatus comprises a portable monitor coupled to a plurality of data acquisition modules, which are in turn coupled to the sensors. The data acquisition modules include cartridges, which mount on the portable monitor, and independently positionable pods. The pods reduce the number of cables extending between the patient's bed and the portable monitor by combining signals from many sensors into a single output signal for transmission to the monitor. The modules collect patient data in analog form from the sensors and provide digital data signals to the monitor. The portable monitor includes: a display device for displaying the patient data, and storage for the patient data. The portable monitor is coupled to the docking station.

  • Patent number: 4356475
Abstract: The system contains a number of monitoring devices, such as bedside units for monitoring parameters of patients, and a central station in star connection. Each monitoring device contains a signal generator and a display device for the display of monitored parameters. The central station contains a central display device and a central multiplexer. The multiplexer has a separate signal input for receiving the output signals of each signal generator, and a first and second number of multiplexer outputs. The output signals of the signal generators each contain undelayed and delayed signal data. The first multiplexer outputs can be connected to the central display device. Thereby, the undelayed signal data contained in the output signals of selected monitoring devices can be displayed in the central station. These signal data represent all parameters monitored by the selected device.
