  • Publication number: 20060114757
Abstract: A mass storage, an electronic multi-track reproducer, and a method to reproduce multi-track data are shown. The possibility is provided to change the reproduction medium according to present environmental conditions, e.g., to change from a text reproduction seamlessly to the reproduction of a radio play, in case environmental conditions indicate that the user is actually not capable of reading because of vibrations or illumination that is too low. To provide these features to a user, a mass storage, a multi-track reproducer, and a method for reproducing the tracks according to detected environmental conditions is provided. The invention is based on multi-track data, wherein at least a subset of the tracks is sufficient for a basic perception of the data, and at least two of the tracks are provided with synchronization markers. The reproduction can seamlessly jump between the different tracks and reproduction modes, as the tracks are synchronized by the markers.

  • Patent number: 7039629
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for inputting data into a system. In order to make it easier for users to input data, the invention provides that, in response to an input by a user, one or more terms which are as appropriate as possible for this input are determined as identified terms, that a confidence value is defined for each of these identified terms, and that the terms associated with an input are dealt with further, taking account of their confidence values.

  • Publication number: 20050160789
Abstract: An odor analysis must be made before any device is capable of synthesizing an odor. Generally, odor analysis must result in an abstract device-independent odor representation that can easily be processed by various devices. Of course, this representation has to be detailed enough to be the basis for a synthesis of an odor by chemical or mechanical processes. The present invention provides a method for coding, processing (e.g. modifying/adapting) and decoding odor. The method according to the invention allows coding a representation of an odor in a digital form or odor information, respectively. This odor information can fulfil the demand of an abstract device-independent odor representation whereas the odor information shows a form adequate for communicating odor information even over a wireless communication network. According to further aspects of the invention, a device for sensing, coding and communicating odor and a device for receiving, decoding and generating odor is provided.

  • Publication number: 20050122344
Abstract: The present invention provides a method for generating a compound graphic. The compound graphic is composed of a plurality of illustrating graphical elements. These illustrating graphical elements are provided by a graphical element library. The graphical element library is dedicated to a graphical subject and hence the illustrating graphical elements of the graphical element library are dedicated to graphical sub-subjects of the comprehensive graphical subject of the graphical element library. The structuring of the graphical element library provides the possibility to compose a high number of individual different compound graphics out of a limited number of illustrating graphical elements. The composing may be controlled easily even in case of employing for example an ITU-T keyboard of a mobile phone since the request for modifying the compound graphic can be limited to request exchanging illustrating graphical elements of a graphical sub-subject in a pre-defined way.

  • Patent number: 6757653
Abstract: A method of composing messages for speech output and the improvement of the quality of reproduction of speech outputs. A series of original sentences for messages is segmented and stored as audio files with search criteria. The length, position, and transition values for the respective segments can be recorded and stored. A sentence to be reproduced is transmitted in a format corresponding to the format of the search criteria. It is determined whether the sentence to be reproduced can be fully reproduced by one segment or a succession of stored segments. The segments found in each case are examined using their entries as to how far the individual segments match as regards speech rhythm. The audio files of the segments in which the examination resulted in the pre-requisites for optimal maintaining of the natural speech rhythm are combined and output for reproduction.
