  • Patent number: 5823863
Abstract: The prior art discloses machines which, for cooling the surface to be machined, have a gas supply line which opens into a gas outlet which is in the direct vicinity of the polishing disk. When CO.sub.2 is used as cooling gas, stoppages, which can be traced back to snow formation of the CO.sub.2, may occur in the line and in the gas outlet. In order to avoid blockages, the machine is assigned means for the supply of the liquid or supercritical CO.sub.2 which comprise a valve for regulating the throughflow quantity of the CO.sub.2 with an expansion nozzle, the valve being arranged inside the machine.

  • Patent number: 4962893
Abstract: Fluidized-bed counter-jet mills are gas-jet mills with which extremely fine milling results can be produced with very little wear and tear. An improvement in the milling results can be achieved by cooling the gas jets with a refrigerant, but the improvement that can be achieved is not substantial and the consumption of refrigerant is very high. In order to lower the consumption of refrigerant while considerably improving the fineness of the milled material, the coarse material which is separated by the grader of the mill is cooled by the refrigerant within the fluidized-bed counter-jet mill and fed back into the milling chamber. Liquid nitrogen is the preferred refrigerant with which the sump of the mill is cooled.

  • Patent number: 4537043
Abstract: An inert gas atmosphere of nitrogen and carbon dioxide is created in a refrigerated container having a diesel engine. A lower oxygen content is maintained by an oxygen limit control while the nitrogen is led into the interior of the container from a gas bottle connected with the container when the predetermined oxygen limit value is exceeded. While the inert gases are being supplied, a constant flow of cold gaseous nitrogen is produced by an electrical evaporator in the liquid nitrogen storage tank and connected to the generator of the diesel engine while carbon dioxide is removed from the gas bottle, heated, released to a constant pressure and fed into the container via throttle points constituting a parallel-switched group of such throttle points which can be individually activated.
