  • Patent number: 8314605
Abstract: A medical treatment device, such as a dental treatment device, is described, the device including a drive unit for driving multiple different tools that are detachably connectable to the treatment device and a tool recognition device for recognizing whether a tool is connected to the treatment device and/or which of the different tools is connected to the treatment device. The tool recognition device includes a coil and an evaluation unit, wherein the coil is connected or connectable to an AC voltage sources, and the coil is inductively couplable to the different tools, so that an AC voltage signal that is specific for each tool and that can be associated with the particular tool by the evaluation unit can be generated.

  • Patent number: 7726863
Abstract: A medical handle device having an illumination apparatus with at least one optical semiconductor component and a method for manufacturing such a hand-held device are displayed. It is proposed that in order to adapt the hand-held device to the specific requirements of a medical application such as uniformly high light emission, high mechanical resistance, sterilizability and electric safety, the illumination apparatus is provided with a base body, at least one blind hole arranged in the base body, a light-emitting window which is formed by the part of the base body extending from the bottom of the blind hole to the first end of the base body and is connected to a cover device which is connected to the base body and with which the blind hole forms a hermetically sealed interior, whereby the at least one optical semiconductor component is arranged in the hermetically sealed interior and the base body and the cover device are made of an electrically non-conducting material that can withstand sterilization.

  • Patent number: 7535135
Abstract: A brushless electric motor which has a rotor magnet, a coil apparatus for electromagnetically driving the rotor magnet, a rotor shaft for transmitting a rotary movement, which is firmly connected to the rotor magnet and runs through a rotation axis of the rotor magnet, and at least one electromagnetic transducer element for detection of the magnetic field of the rotor magnet, in which the at least one electromagnetic transducer element is arranged outside the axial extent of the rotor magnet with respect to the rotation axis, and is arranged essentially within the maximum radial extent of the rotor magnet. The invention also relates to an instrument for a medical, in particular a dental, apparatus having a brushless electric motor such as this.

  • Patent number: 7316424
Abstract: A plug connection for fast-fit coupling of two appliances forming part of a medical handpiece system includes a first coupling fitting on one of the appliances and a second coupling fitting on the other of the appliances. The first coupling fitting has a movable locking element and the second coupling fitting has a projecting element projecting toward the first coupling fitting. The projecting element comprises an end portion of a media line or an end portion of an electrical contact and is positioned to engage a surface of an opening in the locking element to move the locking element between lock and unlock positions when the first and second coupling fittings are moved toward and away from each other.

  • Publication number: 20040124631
Abstract: The invention is concerned with the arrangement of the interface between appliances forming part of a medical or surgical handpiece system and a supply hose, in the form of a fast-fit coupling. The fast-fit coupling may include a shape-actuated plug connection with a locking element and sealing elements, e.g. ball bearings. The coupling thus can be of an especially short and light construction, as well as being hygienically and ergonomically advantageous.
