  • Patent number: 5629002
Abstract: The invention relates to cosmetic or pharmaceutical preparations for improving the quality of the hair and stimulating the growth of the hair, which preparations are based on A) alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and/or ammonium salts of thiocyanic acid in combination with B) at least one component, selected from estrogens, sulfur, sulfide ions, vasodilators, skin-active vitamins, inorganic selenium compounds, amino acids, protein hydrolyzates and carboxylic acids physiologically occurring in the skin or mixtures thereof. The preparations may optionally be in admixture with per se known auxiliary and carrier materials for hair cleaning and hair care agents. A synergistic improvement in the quality of hair and stimulation of hair growth is observed by combining the alkali metal, alkaline earth metal and/or ammonium salts of thiocyanic acid, with at least one of the component B) materials.

  • Patent number: 4593040
Abstract: The invention relates to synergistically active mixtures for the control of phytopathogenic fungi and bacteria comprising antimicrobially effective derivatives of a phenol of the general formula ##STR1## R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 represent hydrogen (for R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 only), bromine, chlorine or alkyl with up to 5 C-atoms, R.sub.3 represents hydrogen, sodium, potassium, calcium, barium or ammonium*, magnesium, bismuth, tin, zinc or copper, furthermore R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 may be interchangeably positioned in the ortho position as well as in the para position, and using fungicides.Benzimidazole fungicides or dithiocarbamates are predominantly used preferably on potato tubers with carbendazim and thiabendazole as mixing components.

  • Patent number: 4532367
Abstract: A method is provided for the production of antimicrobially effective phenol derivatives according to general Formula I in which R.sub.1 is bromine or chlorine, R.sub.2 is methyl or ethyl, R.sub.3 is hydrogen or sodium, potassium, ammonium or by alkyl with up to 10 C-atoms substituted ammonium, magnesium, calcium, barium, aluminum, tin, bismuth, copper, zinc, R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are independently hydrogen, alkyl or alkoxy with up to 5 C-atoms, bromine or chlorine. The compounds are obtained by benzylation of 6-halogen- or 4-halogen-2-alkylphenol, halogenation of 2-alkyl-4-benzylphenol or -6-benzylphenol, or by alkylation of 6-halogen-4-benzylphenol or of 4-halogen-6-benzylphenol and if necessary through reaction of the product with hydroxide, alcoholate, carbonate or hydrogen carbonate of the above-mentioned metals. Water or lipid soluble effective substances are obtained which display a broad antimicrobial activity spectrum.
