    Abstract: A thermal and acoustic insulation system for an aircraft, to be received between an inner surface of an aircraft primary structure, such as an aircraft fuselage structure, and a surface of a panel arrangement delimiting an aircraft cabin, the surface facing away from the aircraft cabin, comprises an insulation package and at least one sensor adapted to measure a level of humidity present in the insulation package. The insulation package comprises a core layer having a thermal and acoustic damping performance, and a packing layer enclosing the core layer. The packing layer is provided with a plurality of normally closed and selectively openable drainage openings which are actuatable to change between their normally closed state and an open state.

The core layer is between the outer layers so that the outer layers cover the core layer at least on opposite sides thereof. Functions of the functional components are related to at least one of the thermal and the acoustic damping performance of the multilayer structure and the functional components are provided on a first outer layer side of the core layer and/or on a second outer layer side of the core layer.

    Abstract: Polycyclic phthalazines, in particular 2-substituted maduraphthalazines (10,12,15,16-tetrahydroxy-8-methoxy-11-methyl-1,9,14-trioxo-1,2,6,7,9,14-h exahydronaphthaceno-1,2-g-phthalazines), of formula I and their use against gram-positive bacterial strains, particularly against multi-resistant staphylococci (MRSA) and against glycopeptide-resistant, for example vancomycin-resistant, enterococci. The polycyclic phthalazines are thus suitable for preparing anti-bacterially effective pharmaceutical compositions. In formula I, R.sup.1 is carboxyalkyl or carboxyaryl, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 represent H or acyl (for example CO-alkyl or COO-alkyl), with R.sup.1 being different from optionally substituted carboxyphenyl when R.sup.3 represents C.sub.1-8 alkanoyl. The invention also relates to salts, amides and esters of compounds of formula I.

    Abstract: A monochromator comprises a first and a second concave grating. An entrance slit is imaged by the concave grating in the plane as a spectrum. A disc comprises a spiral slot. A section of the slot forms an intermediate slit periodically sweeping transversely across the spectrum. A concave mirror images the fanning point of the concave grating. Thereby the fanned beams are recombined to a single beam. An exit slit is located in an image plane in which an image of the entrance slit is generated. The spectrum can be scanned quickly and cyclically without the gratings having to be rotated. There is also the effect of a double monochromator. Another embodiment comprises two concave mirrors to generate the image.

    Abstract: In a grating spectrometer a signal spectrum is measured repeatedly while inserting different filters. The number of the filters and measurements correspond to the number of the occurring grating orders not suppressed. The signal spectra and the transmission characteristics of the filters are stored. A system of equations is achieved, from which a computer calculates the signal partial spectra associated with the individual grating orders. A total spectrum is composed from these signal partial spectra. Separation of the higher grating orders need not be effected optically, for example by cut-off filters.

    Abstract: Stray light produced in a monochromator by the diffuse reflection of the incoming light beam specularly reflected from the surface of the diffraction grating is practically eliminated by interposing a black glass "absorbent-reflector" in the path of the specularly reflected beam. The small percentage of radiation that is not absorbed by the absorbing glass is reflected to an opposite blackened wall which diffuse reflects an extremely small percentage of the beam back to the absorbent-reflector where a very negligible part is returned to the grating surface and eventually to the monochromator exit slit.
