Abstract: A method and apparatus for the production of a textile strip, by preparing and aftertreating an intermediate product, with the product textile strip being a new article of manufacture and having long weft elements, especially long weft threads, provided diagonally to the strip length, intersecting one another, and connected by longitudinal rows of stitches. The apparatus includes a device on a warp knitting machine, particularly a thread knitting machine, having at least one movable weft laying device, in order to work long weft elements or weft threads, which extend over the entire working width, into the textile strip.

Abstract: A fabric composed of a fleece or backing of fibrous material with parallel rows of single thread, sewn-knitted, run resistant, stitches superimposed thereon; a method of making the fabric and a warp knitting machine which is suitable for the production of the sewn-knitted fabric. The fabric can advantageously be used for outer garments, household or space textiles.

Abstract: In a fabric constituted lengthwise of stitched warp threads and, transverse thereto, an array of weft threads substantially parallel to one another, the array of weft threads is in the form of repeating sections, each section comprises a plurality of discrete portions of weft threads and each discrete portion extends in a continuous line at least twice from one lateral border of the fabric to the other lateral border of the fabric and forms a U at at least one of the borders of the fabric. This fabric is made by a method and with an apparatus in which the weft threads are transferred to two feeding means which transport the weft threads to a zone in which warp threads are stitched into the array of weft threads, the transferring being effected by a weft layer which moves between the feeding means transversely to the direction of motion of the feeding means and, at selected intervals, parallel to the direction of motion of the feeding means.
