  • Patent number: 4662134
Abstract: A wedge-type anchor for stranded tension cables. It has anchoring wedges that rest in a conical wedge-reception bore in a wedge mount. The wedges have teeth on their inner surface that decrease in depth toward the point of the wedge. To allow the anchor to be utilized at cryogenic temperatures without the core sliding through and the outer strands breaking prematurely, the ratio of the pitch (8) of the teeth to the diameter of the cable is between 1:20 and 1:30 at a ratio of the effective compression length (11) of each anchoring wedge (4) to the diameter (5) of the cable of between 2.8 and 4.5, and the teeth at the point of the wedge have a contact surface that tapers at an angle (13) of 4.degree. to 6.degree. to the longitudinal axis.

  • Patent number: 4486991
Abstract: A wire cable is unravelled at one end wherein the unravelled individual wire strands are formed into a pear-shaped construction whereby concrete is formed within and without the pear-shaped configuration so as to form a tie-anchor thereof. The invention relates to the process and apparatus for forming the tie-anchor as well. The pear-shaped configuration as formed provides improved tie anchor within a minimum of feed length of cable required to form same, while eliminating the need for costly anchor plates and keys.

  • Patent number: 3986311
Abstract: A reinforcement arrangement of high-tension resistant steel for prestressed concrete members or buildings, in which rigidly attached projecting portions protrude substantially from the periphery of the reinforcement. Passages between the projecting portions and the periphery of the reinforcement permit embedding of the reinforcement in the form of a bundle or packet consisting of one or several reinforcements, in a predetermined material which is subsequently introduced. Such material may be in the form of a corrosion inhibitor, or compact substance such as cement mortar. The reinforcement may be in the form of a multistrand wire or cable in which the projecting portions are annular and located at predetermined intervals along the length of the reinforcement. The projecting portions may be of iron or steel, as well as plastic material.
