    Abstract: A field transmitter F, a control device B is in the form of a separately portable unit linked to a field transmitter S1 by radio over short ranges. This eliminates the need to make a direct visit to an inaccessible field transmitter S1 for control purposes. In addition, one control device B can be used to control a plurality of field transmitters S1, S2, S3, A1, A2 by radio. In situ control, which is normally permanently integrated into the field transmitters S1, S2, S3, A1, A2, can be dispensed with.

    Abstract: A level measurement device for measuring the level of material inside of a vessel which includes a conductive element, a signal generating unit, and a receiving unit. The conductive element does not come into direct contact with the material being measured. The signal generating unit generates measurement signals which are transmitted along the conductive element. Each of the measurement signals produces an electromagnetic field which travels along the conductive element and is reflected when it reaches the surface of material in the vessel. The reflected electromagnetic field produces an echo signal which travels along said conductive element to the receiving unit. The receiving unit receives the echo signal and determines the level of material in the vessel. The conductive element can be located outside of the vessel.

This meter comprises an electronic circuit (13), which generates electromagnetic signals in operation, a conductor (7), which projects into the container (3), along which a float (11, 11a, 11b, 11c, 11d, 11e) moves along with the level, which has at least one segment reflecting electromagnetic signals, an injector (9), which transmits the signals from the circuit (13) to the conductor (7), which conductor (7) leads the signals into the container (3) and leads out a signal reflected at the float (11) and a receiving and evaluating circuit (15), which receives the reflected signals, which determines a travel time of the signals and which ascertains the level from the travel time.
