  • Patent number: 6843220
Abstract: A self-igniting, mixture-compressing internal combustion engine for fuel gas includes a cylinder including a cylinder head (5); an insert (1) operably engaged with the cylinder head (5); a main combustion space (7) in the cylinder; and a prechamber (4) in the insert (1). A low-pressure fuel line is connected to the main combustion space (7). A nozzle (10) is at least partially disposed in the insert (1). The nozzle (10) is operably connected to a high-pressure fuel line. The nozzle (10) is used to inject fuel gas into the prechamber (4). At least one injection opening (6) for connects the prechamber (4) to the main combustion space (7) and passes the fuel gas from the prechamber (4) to the main combustion space (7).

  • Patent number: 4617070
Abstract: In order to prevent the formation of fissures or tears in the walls of cylinders of an internal combustion engine, hardening tracks (4) generated by a carbon dioxide laser, are placed parallel to each other at an angle of inclination (.alpha.) with respect to the axis (3) of the wall of the cylinder or cylinder liner, and spaced from each other by a distance (X) which is greater than twice the distance (k) between the maxima (9, 10) of tension resulting in the operation of the ICE from the edges of the hardening track, thereby satisfying the condition: X is greater than 2.times.k.

  • Patent number: 4569225
Abstract: In the test apparatus for a hollow body having a volume of approximately 1 to 10 cubic decimeters (1 to 10 liters), pressures can be generated using a fluid medium which is compressible within the hollow body with a compressibility of down to 1% per 1000 bar pressure loading. This is attained by means of an apparatus for generating extreme pressure, which enables the buildup of pressures on the order of magnitude of 10,000 bar in the hollow body within a fraction of a second.

  • Patent number: 4027157
Abstract: A device for measuring the wear of a radioactively marked machine component by sensing the presence of radioactive wear fragments in a lubricant has a flow-through chamber; an inlet for tangentially introducing the lubricant into the flow-through chamber; a radiation detector at least partially surrounded by the flow-through chamber; and an outlet for removing the lubricant from the flow-through chamber. The device further includes an outer hollow cylinder having a closed radial end face; an inner hollow cylinder having a closed radial end face and an outer diameter which is smaller than the inner diameter of the outer hollow cylinder. The inner hollow cylinder is supported coaxially within the outer hollow cylinder and the space between the two cylinders constitutes the flow-through chamber. The cylinders are supported in a substantially horizontal orientation.
