  • Patent number: 8783759
Abstract: A chassis structure for a motor vehicle includes a forged base body of light metal and a reinforcement body made of fiber material. The base body and the reinforcement body are bought into forced engagement by an adhesive layer, wherein the base body has at least one first region which is plastically deformed and partially encompasses the reinforcement body by a form fit.

Date of Patent: July 22, 2014
    Assignee: Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbH
Inventors: Hans-Jügen Neumann, Hans-Joachim Horenkamp, Stephan Meyer, Wolfram Linnig
  • Patent number: 8714637
Abstract: A chassis structure for a motor vehicle includes an extruded base member made of light metal and a reinforcing member made of steel to reinforce the base member. The base member has two walls which are spaced from one another by a distance, with the reinforcing member connecting free ends of the walls. The reinforcing member and the base member are joined to one another using electromagnetic pulse welding.

  • Patent number: 8388049
Abstract: An undercarriage assembly and related method for motor vehicles includes a base and a support positioned adjacent to the base at a connection area. At least one nail is inserted into the support and the base of the connection area, which rigidly connects the support with the base without any pre-formed fastener holes.

  • Publication number: 20110025009
Abstract: The invention relates to a chassis component for an automobile and a method for producing such chassis component. A mineral core body made of silicate is cast inside a light metal casting, and the blank produced in this manner is processed by forging, forming they chassis component 1. The density and strength of the base body of the light metal casting forming the chassis component as well as of the core body can be adjusted during the forging process.

  • Publication number: 20090267337
Abstract: A vehicle frame for a motor vehicle, configured as ladder frame, includes two side rails which are connected by cross members. Each side rail is made of at least one longitudinally welded hollow section, wherein the hollow section has a cross section in the shape of a rectangle with wall portions, which are curved in cross section, and rounded longitude edges. The hollow section may hereby be roll-formed. The cross section of the side rails varies in its length dimension and ascends starting from a front region to a maximum and descends thereafter to a rear region H. The rounded cross sectional configuration of the side rails with slight oversizing of the outer dimensions results in a greater geometrical moment of inertia. As a result, the wall thickness can be reduced so as to attain a decrease in weight and cost savings.

  • Patent number: 7556273
Abstract: In a method of making a control arm for a wheel suspension of a motor vehicle a blank of steel material having a tensile strength of at least 800 MPa is shaped, using a sheet metal forming process, into a shell body having a center web and plural flank portions extending from the center web in a same direction. The flank portions are connected by a latticed reinforcement made of plastic, without application of a heat treatment process.
