Abstract: An electronic device for measuring a magnetic field angle within a vehicle steering assembly. The electronic device includes a semiconductor die having a perimeter, a magneto-resistive sensing element formed in the die and located near the perimeter of the semiconductor die, and a processing circuit formed in the die. The processing circuit is electrically connected to the magneto-resistive sensing element and is configured to generate a signal indicative of at least one of magnetic field angle and a steering torque. A non-conductive material encapsulates the semiconductor die. Electrical connectors are electrically connected to the die and pass through the non-conductive material encapsulating the semiconductor die. The electrical connectors are configured to be electrically connected to a printed circuit board. The semiconductor die is located near the perimeter of the package to position the magneto-resistive sensing element near the perimeter of the package.
