  • Patent number: 6340077
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromechanical wheel brake device, having a screw link actuator, which is supported in a floating caliper. The screw link actuator can be driven by an electric motor, and can press a frictional brake lining against one side of a brake disc and can press a second frictional brake lining against another side of the brake disc by means of a reaction force by way of the floating caliper. In order to permit a release of the wheel brake device in the event of a malfunction, brake device embodies the screw link actuator as selflocking-free, supporting a spindle nut and a threaded spindle in rotary fashion, and securing the threaded spindle against rotation by means of a releasable rotation prevention device. The threaded spindle is connected in a rotationally secured and axially mobile fashion by means of a positive engagement.

  • Patent number: 6336529
Abstract: An electromechanical brake for motor vehicles having a selflocking-free spindle that is electromotively moved bidirectionally in a longitudinal direction in order to press at least one brake lining against a rotating friction element in an advancing stroke and and in order to release the brake lining in a restoring stroke. The brake also has a plate-shaped coupling member between the spindle and the brake lining. The coupling member engages directly with the spindle and is supported against the brake lining so that the brake lining slides lateral to the longitudinal axis of the spindle. This largely prevents lateral forces, which interfere with the lack of friction of the spindle and can occur when the brake lining is against the friction element. The electromechanical brake is used in passenger motor vehicles.

  • Patent number: 6279690
Abstract: An electromechanical brake for motor vehicles such as passenger vehicles, has a member that can be electromotively moved in two directions, longitudinally speaking, in order to press at least one brake lining against a friction element in an application stroke and in order to release the brake lining in a restoring stroke. In addition, a clutch is provided which can be actuated by the longitudinally movable member and which effectively disengages the longitudinally movable member from the electric drive motor when a permissible restoring stroke is exceeded. This prevents a mechanical failure or damage to the brake in the event of a malfunction of this kind.

  • Patent number: 6213256
Abstract: An electromechanical wheel brake device with a screw link actuator that is supported in a floating caliper, and driven by an electric motor. The screw link actuator can press a frictional brake lining against one side of a brake disk. The floating caliper can press a second frictional brake lining against the other side of the brake disk by means of a reaction force. In order to release the wheel brake device in the event of a malfunction, the screw link actuator as self locking-free, supports both a spindle nut and a threaded spindle so that the spindle nut and threaded spindle they can rotate, and securing the threaded spindle against rotation by means of a releasable rotation prevention device. In the event of a malfunction, the rotation prevention device is released and the frictional brake lining that is pressed with force against the brake disk pushes the threaded spindle away from the brake disk, wherein the threaded spindle is set into rotation and moves away from the brake disk.

  • Patent number: 6189661
Abstract: The invention concerns an electromechanical brake, in particular a disc brake (10), comprising a brake pad (14) which can be urged against a brake disc (16) by means of an electromotive actuating arrangement (18). According to the invention, in order to be able to release the brake (10) in the event of an electronic component failing, for example, a releasable support device (42) supports the actuating arrangement (18) on a brake calliper (12) when the brake pad (14) is urged against the brake disc (16). In order to release the support device (42), its distance from the brake disc (16) is increased such that the actuating arrangement (18) and together therewith the brake pad (14) are released from the brake disc (16).
