    Abstract: A reservoir safely accommodates a fuel using a barrier layer, which at least partly separates the contact areas of the reservoir and/or contact elements to be protected. The barrier layer is formed of a fire-proof medium which displaces volatile and ignitable fuel having a density less than the density of the fire-proof medium, providing a chemical-physical separation of hydrogen from the air surrounding the reservoir. In vehicles, particularly aircraft, safe operation may be improved by application of the barrier in the reservoir. In one embodiment, there is an additional reservoir filled with an inert material that surrounds the hydrogen reservoir.

    Abstract: The connection of a rudder unit on the fuselage of an aircraft frequently leads to an inhomogeneous flow of forces in the connecting region between the rudder unit and the fuselage or even to an offset of the flow of forces relative to the centroidal axis, e.g., due to multiple-bolt connections. This is extremely disadvantageous with respect to static considerations. One embodiment of the present invention proposes a connection for a rudder unit on an aircraft fuselage, in which the flow of forces resulting from the connection between the rudder unit spars and the fuselage frames extends in a largely homogenous fashion from the rudder unit spars to the fuselage frames and into the fuselage. The connecting elements are advantageously arranged within the rudder unit and the fuselage in such a way that no additional enveloping aerodynamic fairings are required that would result in an additional increase in the aerodynamic drag.

The crown includes two support flanges protruding laterally in opposite directions from a reinforcement zone that connects to the web and that has a seat-securing groove extending longitudinally therealong. Floor panel elements can be supported on the support flanges. The reinforcement zone top surface preferably does not protrude above the support flange top surfaces but rather is at least substantially flush and planar therewith. The single horizontal base flange forming the base, the single vertical web and the support flanges preferably form a generally I-shaped sectional profile. The reinforcement zone may include a triangular sectional hollow lower reinforcement structure tapering to the top of the web. Large-area floor panels can span continuously laterally over the rail and can be arranged independently of the spacing between the rails.

    Abstract: In a tail unit for a commercial aircraft having a pressurized cabin, the trimmable elevator assembly and the rudder assembly are connected to a shortened fuselage tail section. The fuselage tail section is shortened because at least the upper contour line of the tail section and the two lateral contour lines of the tail section each have at least one curvature reversal point in the outer contour. Additionally, the center box (23) of the elevator assembly passes through the tail section (16) in the area of the tail ribs (20, 22) which support the rudder assembly. This shortening of the tail section allows better utilization of the cabin space in the aircraft. Additionally, it reduces the aerodynamic drag and the total weight of the tail unit.
