  • Patent number: 5015374
Abstract: The invention relates to a closure cap (1) for dialyzers which is suitable for a so-called in-line sterilization. For this purpose the closure cap (1) comprises two cap parts (2, 3) of which the first cap part (2) is adapted to be mounted on a dialyzer flange (4) while the second cap part (3) is arranged movably in a receiving compartment (5) of the first cap part (2) between an open position and a closure position. In an open position passage of a sterilization medium is possible so that all the parts, sealing and guide surfaces can be reliably sterilized. In the closure position the second cap part (3) is pushed into a sealing position within the first cap part (2) so that contamination of the dialyzer after removal from the sterilization apparatus can be prevented with certainty.

  • Patent number: 4790807
Abstract: The invention relates to a centrifuge arrangement having a centrifuge rotor comprising a drive disc (18) connected to a drive source. Furthermore, the centrifuge rotor comprises at least one separation container (1, 32) which comprises a separation passage (6) and a separation chamber (9) whose outlet and inlet passages lead to the center of the drive disc (18). Advantageously, the separation container (1, 32) is made as self-supporting part of rigid or semi-rigid but flexible material and this makes it possible to insert said container easily into the drive disc (18) and in addition provides advantages in the production of the centrifuge arrangement according to the invention.

  • Patent number: 4789473
Abstract: A filter comprising a filter housing with an interior within which between two closure members filter membranes in the form of hollow fibers are disposed. Between the hollow fibers a free flow space remains to which are connected two connecting pieces disposed inclined on the housing. Through said connecting pieces blood is supplied to the interior so that a filtration from the outside to the inside into the hollow fibers is possible. This and the arrangement of the connecting pieces gives an extremely favourable flow approach to the hollow fibers so that the blood flow is hardly influenced in its velocity and flow behaviour because in addition to the cross-section of the free flow space is adapted to the cross section of the blood supply line. For making such a filter at least two filters are arranged parallel and spaced apart in a plane, the support surface for the filters being rotatably mounted and the axis of rotation not intersecting any of the two longitudinal axes of the filters.

  • Patent number: 4774415
Abstract: The device in accordance with the invention for the sterilization of a hose coupling device (in its connected condition) of dialysis apparatus, comprises an opening housing into which the coupling device is placed. The coupling device is subjected to infrared radiation from heating elements in the housing whose heating effect is monitored and automatically controlled by a temperature probe arranged under the coupling device in the housing. Since the temperature probe is designed to have such an infrared absorption characteristic that the temperature increase rate of the probe is substantially the same as that of the coupling device, one may be certain that the coupling device will have reached the desired temperature (which is detected at the temperature probe) with only a slight delay if any. At the same time there is the advantage that the interior of the coupling device is heated to substantially above the minimum necessary sterilization temperature.

  • Patent number: 4675117
Abstract: Method of separating blood, in particular for recovering thrombocytes and/or leucocytes, the whole blood coming from the donor being separated in a separation means of a centrifuge into an erythrocyte fraction, cell-poor plasma, a thrombocyte fraction and/or possibly a leucocyte fraction, the separated fractions of the blood being discharged via a flexible tubing system of discharge lines out of the separation chambers of the centrifuge and constantly predetermined amounts of separated cell-poor plasma returned to the whole blood to be separated or to the already separated erythrocytes in the separation chamber, and a separation apparatus for carrying out the method comprising a separator having one or more separating chambers connected together and a flexible tubing system which includes a supply line (1, 2) for the supply of the whole blood to be separated to the separator and discharge lines each for the separate discharge of the erythrocyte fraction (10), the cell-poor plasma (3, 5), the thrombocyte fract

  • Patent number: 4564342
Abstract: A peristaltically operating roller pump, in particular a hose pump for medical technology, comprises a pump bed (25) whose bearing wall (28) in the exit region (31) has a curvature which is in the same sense as the circular path (33a) of a roller (33) mounted on a pump rotor (1) and which has a radius of curvature which is constant with respect to the circular path (33a) or gradually increases in the direction of rotation of the roller (33). The pump rotor (1) comprises a gear connection so that a constrained radial movement of a roller is converted to a corresponding follow-up movement of the other rollers or roller. By this combination of pump bed and pump rotor pressure peaks and fluctuations of the flow rate are effectively prevented.

  • Patent number: 4551147
Abstract: A universal infusion apparatus for use with sterile, sealed bottles of infusion liquid has a hydrophobic filter for stopping possible loss of liquid through the air duct, that is used for letting air into the vessel to take the place of the liquid run off therefrom. The air filter is furthermore used for stopping bacteria from the outside air being taken up into the vessel. For decreasing the degree of vacuum necessary for starting operation of the filter when there is liquid on the inside face of it so that there is no danger of the bottle collapsing, there is an air trap or storage space in which air will be kept when liquid makes its way through the air duct.

  • Patent number: 4545744
Abstract: A roller pump (1) comprises a stator member (2) in which a pump bed (3) is formed with specific geometry. In the interior of the pump bed (3) a rotor (6) is rotatably mounted. A pump hose (10) can be inserted into the pump bed (3), said hose being curved in loop-like manner and its two ends being combined in immediate vicinity to each other in a connecting piece (11). The connecting piece (11) can be fixed in location in the stator member (2), the arrangement in the stator member (2) being uniquely defined by cooperation of a location tongue (23) and a location slot (22). Interchanging of the pressure-side and suction-side connection is thus impossible. A holding-down member (24) arranged on the rotor (6) permits automatic insertion and ejection of the pump hose (10) or hose system (9).

  • Patent number: 4540397
Abstract: A centrifugal apparatus, in particular a flow-through centrifugal apparatus for processing biological fluids in continuous fluid communication, has a flexible tube securely fixed to a rotatably processing chamber and a stationary terminal coaxially above said processing chamber, and being formed in a loop around the outer periphery of said processing chamber so as, in operation, to orbit said loop around said processing chamber at half the rotational speed thereof to avoid twisting or drilling of said tube. To guide said loop of tube in its orbital movement, a rotating frame is provided also rotating at half the speed of the processing chamber. The drive trains for said processing chamber and said rotating frame, respectively, each comprise an individual drive shaft each drivingly connected separate from the other to a drive motor. This avoids any necessity of reversal of rotational direction in the drive trains and allows for a compact and simple construction with a minimum of rotating masses.
