  • Publication number: 20080074575
Abstract: The invention relates to a liquid crystal display comprising a multi-layered display unit (1) which is introduced into a housing (20). Said unit comprises, in a successive manner from the visible side to the rear side, a front polarisation filter (11), a liquid crystal layer (12), a rear polarisation filter (13) and a diffusion layer (14) or retro-reflection layer, optionally, with additional layers (15, 16). High luminosity is achieved by virtue of the fact that the diffusion layer or the retro-reflection layer are provided with fluorescent colours (14.1).

  • Patent number: 7034910
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device with a negative display when no current is supplied. The device includes a liquid crystal layer that is built into an active zone between substrates, the exterior of each of the substrates is covered by pole filters that are aligned in an arrangement for the currentless negative display. The interior of the substrates has segments of surface electrodes that are separated from one another by electrically insulating dividing lines, the segments being connected to connection lines that lead to the exterior. Masking is provided on the interior of the substrate for areas that would otherwise remain bright during retrace blanking.

Said device comprises a liquid crystal layer that is built into an active zone (2) between substrates, the exterior of each of said substrates being covered by pole filters that are aligned in an arrangement for the currentless negative display. The interior of said substrates is provided with segments (2.2) of surface electrodes that are separated from one another by means of electrically insulating dividing lines (5), said segments being connected to connection lines that lead to the exterior. Masking is provided on the interior of the substrate for areas that would otherwise remain bright during retrace blanking.

  • Patent number: 5117300
Abstract: An electrical device including a glass substrate, an intrgrated circuit chip, an electrical device and electrical conductor paths applied to the surface of the glass substrate and connected to electrical terminals of the integrated circuit chip and the electrical device. The conductor paths are divided into supply conductor paths for supplying voltage to the integrated circuit chip and actuation conductor paths for actuating the electronic device. The actuation conductor paths are composed of layers of indium tin oxide deposited on the glass surface and the supply conductor paths are composed of metal films glued on the glass surface.

  • Patent number: 5056893
Abstract: A display device which includes a matrix array of rectangular liquid crystal display elements on a base, all of the display elements of the array having a same height. The matrix array is arranged in rows and columns with uniform gaps between the columns. The base has lateral edges spaced from the outer columns for abutting lateral edges of other display devices. The display elements of the middle columns between the outer columns all have a same width. In order to maintain the same periodicity between the adjacent outside columns of adjacent display devices as is present between the columns within each display device, the display elements of the outer columns have a smaller width than the width of the display elements of the middle columns so as to compensate for enlarged distances between the outside columns and the lateral edges.
