Abstract: A method and apparatus for processing streaming data of content in a digital broadcast system supporting Video On Demand (VOD) service are provided. A data processing method of a set-top box supporting Video On Demand (VOD) service includes requesting content selected by a user, configuring, if streaming data of the content is received, file block information for storing the streaming data, and storing the streaming data in units of file blocks according to the file block information. The streaming data processing method and apparatus of the present invention are capable of processing the streaming data of the content of which size is larger than the available storage space efficiently. Also, the streaming data processing method and apparatus of the present invention is capable of reducing total manufacturing cost of the set-top box by reducing costly storage device in size.

Abstract: An apparatus and method is provided for managing a communication device using Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP). When a developer creates an SNMP interface header file through an application program at a compile time, an extractor generates a management information base (MIB) file and object identifier information (OIDInfo) on the basis of the interface header file. When a manager makes an SNMP request at a run time, an agent sends the OIDInfo included in the SNMP request message to an OIDInfo processor. The OIDInfo processor refers to an OIDInfo memory and delivers general message service (GMS) information to the agent. A GMS request/response process between the agent and the application program is then performed on the basis of the GMS information.

Abstract: A broadcast receiving apparatus and a method for channel switching in a broadcast receiving apparatus are provided. The method includes enabling a decoding unit when a broadcast receiving mode starts, decoding, when a serving transport stream is received via a serving broadcast channel, the received serving transport stream in the decoding unit, terminating the decoding of the received serving transport stream in the decoding unit, when the serving broadcast channel is switched to a target broadcast channel, decoding, when the target transport stream is received via the target broadcast channel, the received target transport stream in the decoding unit, and disabling the decoding unit when the broadcast receiving mode is terminated.
