  • Patent number: 8928550
Abstract: A driver chip for controlling a high-resolution display panel is presented. The driver chip is not much larger than a conventional driver chip that is currently used for lower resolution display panels. The driver chip applies data signals to the data lines of the display panel and gate control signals to a gate driver that is formed in the peripheral region of the display panel. The gate driver, which may be made of amorphous silicon TFTs, generates gate signals in response to the gate control signals from the driver chip and applies the gate signals to gate lines. Since the driver chip of the invention controls more gate lines and data lines than a conventional chip of about the same size, the driver chip may be easily adapted for display devices having multiple panels. Where multiple panels are used, the panels may be scanned simultaneously or sequentially.

  • Patent number: 8243244
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device for preventing a vertical line defect includes sub-pixels arranged repeatedly in order of red, green, and blue along an N-th (where N is a natural number) horizontal line, and sub-pixels formed in a staggered structure with the N-th horizontal line and arranged repeatedly in order of green, blue, and red along an (N+1)-th horizontal line. Gate lines are formed along the horizontal lines. Data lines are formed to cross the gate lines with a gate insulating layer disposed therebetween and formed to be bent along the sub-pixels of the staggered structure. Thin film transistors are connected to the gate lines and to the data lines and pixel electrodes are connected to the thin film transistors. Storage electrodes overlap the pixel electrodes with the gate insulating layer and a passivation layer disposed therebetween to form storage capacitors.

  • Publication number: 20090146964
Abstract: In a touch sensing display device, a plurality of sensor scanning lines extend in a first direction and sequentially receive a first voltage, and a plurality of sensor data lines extend in a second, different, direction. A plurality of sensing elements are formed in regions defined by the sensor scanning lines and the sensor data lines, and each sensing element transmits the first voltage from a corresponding sensor scanning line to a corresponding sensor data line responsive to an external touch. A sensing signal processor converts voltages of the sensor data lines into sensing data, and, a touch determining unit processes the sensing data corresponding to the sensor scanning lines by at least one scanning line to determine positions of touch regions generated during at least one frame.

  • Publication number: 20060146128
Abstract: A display device may include a driver with a plurality of N digital to analog converters in communication with a plurality of M data lines, where M is greater than N. A digital to analog converter may be in communication with P data lines, which may receive a first sequence of P data signals and subsequently receive a second different sequence of P data signals. A display device has a plurality of scan lines, a plurality of data lines and switching elements electrically coupled to the scan lines and the data lines. Scan signals are sequentially outputted to the scan lines. Image signals that are different from one another are applied to the data lines grouped by a predetermined number. Adjacent image signals of the image signals applied to adjacent data lines of the data lines have different transmission sequences during at least one frame. Therefore, an image display quality of the display device is improved.

  • Patent number: 7053407
Abstract: Disclosed are a liquid crystal display device and a method for manufacturing the same, in which wirings connected between pads and an integrated circuit is protected from being corroded. A pixel array is formed on a display region of a substrate. A plurality of pads are formed on a non-display region of the substrate. An integrated circuit is formed on the non-display region of the substrate and connected to the pads to generate a signal for operating the pixel array. Conductive barrier layers separated from each of the pads are formed on peripheral portions of the pads connected to the integrated circuit. The conductive barrier layers have electric potential equivalent to that of each of the pads in accordance with internal connections of the integrated circuit. When bumps of the integrated circuit and the pads are attached to each other, the conductive barrier layers prevent the pads and the wirings connected to the pads from being corroded.
