    Abstract: An electronic device is disclosed. The electronic device according to an embodiment include a communication module, an output device, a microphone, and a processor, wherein the processor acquires an audio signal from an external device using the communication module, outputs a signal corresponding to the audio signal and a signal of a specified frequency band through the output device, acquires the signal of the specified frequency band using the microphone, determines a proximity state of an external object to the electronic device based at least on a strength of the signal of the specified frequency band and controls at least some functions of the electronic device based on at least the determined proximity state. In addition, various embodiments understood from the specification are possible.
