  • Patent number: 7675453
Abstract: A power saving apparatus that uses a plurality of switches, including a switch provided in a remote controller receptacle mounted on a device, to turn on or off power to a device according to whether a remote controller is received in the remote controller receptacle, thereby saving standby power of the device. The power saving apparatus includes first, second, and third switches, and a controller. The first switch is used to power on/off the device. The second switch is provided in the remote controller receptacle to turn on/off power to the device according to whether or not a remote controller is received in the remote controller receptacle. The controller outputs a control signal to turn on/off power to the device when power is supplied through the first or second switch. The third switch turns on or off the power to the device according to the control signal output from the controller.

  • Patent number: 6218652
Abstract: In the microwave oven having a high voltage driving part with a high voltage transformer, a switching unit applies electric power to the high voltage driving part. In the switching unit, when switched on, an operational contact firstly comes in contact with a first contact coupled with a PTC thermistor and secondly with a second contact after a given time period, and a driving unit generates driving force and turns on/off the switching unit. Since the switching unit and driving unit may be simply installed to effectively eliminate the inrush current, assembly and work efficiencies are improved according to a simpler wiring process, and also, the total manufacturing cost for the microwave oven is reduced.

  • Patent number: 5811768
Abstract: A microwave oven has a cooking chamber in which a tray is provided for supporting food to be cooked. The tray is rotatable and can be raised and lowered. Cooking can be performed by microwaves and/or an electric resistance heater disposed in the cooking chamber. A sensor disposed in the cooking chamber detects a condition wherein food on the rising tray is at a height corresponding to that of the heater. In response to the sensing of such a condition the heater is turned off, a mechanism for raising the tray is also turned off, and a warning is emitted.
