  • Publication number: 20010020617
Abstract: A food amount detector for automatically detecting the amount of a food placed in a cooking chamber of a microwave oven, a microwave oven employing the food amount detector, and control method thereof. Output voltage of a microwave generator is detected while the microwave oven is driven, and the amount of the food placed in the cooking chamber of the microwave oven is determined based on the output voltage such detected. In accordance with the amount of the food such determined, the food is cooked under the appropriate driving conditions of the microwave oven. Accordingly, the user does not need to determine the amount of the food by himself, or set the driving conditions of the microwave oven such as cooking time, level of microwave energy, etc. As a result, the user finds it convenient when using this microwave oven, and the food is cooked under the exact driving conditions set by the microwave oven.

  • Patent number: 6166363
Abstract: A defrosting method for a microwave oven capable of variably adjusting a level of output power of a magnetron in accordance with data detected from a sensor, comprising the steps of (a) detecting a change degree of output data from a sensor for a predetermined time period; and (b) adjusting a level of output power of a magnetron in accordance with the change degree of the output data from the sensor.

  • Patent number: 6166362
Abstract: An automatic cooking control method for a microwave oven using data pattern of food, including the steps of: (a) collecting data outputted from a data detecting section for a predetermined time; (b) comparing the collected data with at least one prestored data pattern; and (c) selecting the data pattern among the prestored data pattern that is most similar with the collected data, and performing a cooking operation corresponding to the selected data pattern. When the data collected for the predetermined time corresponds to a no-load pattern, the microwave oven stops the cooking operation. Without separate external data input about weight or physical status of the food in the cooking chamber, the microwave oven automatically selects the most proper cooking process for the food in the cooking chamber by comparing the data about the food in the cooking chamber with the data patterns of the various foods prestored in the microwave oven.

  • Patent number: 6114678
Abstract: A device of detecting an abnormal state of a microwave oven having relays, a high voltage transformer, and a magnetron, including a voltage sensing part connected between the high voltage transformer and the magnetron to sense a voltage applied to the magnetron's both terminals; and a control part receiving the voltage between the magnetron's terminals from the voltage sensing part to determine an unloaded state where nothing is in a cooking chamber or an overheated state of the magnetron or the cooking chamber, and when determining that the oven is in the abnormal state, turning off the relays to stop the operation of the magnetron; and a method of detecting an abnormal state of a microwave oven including the steps of driving a magnetron to perform a user-selected cooking operation; detecting a voltage between the magnetron's both terminals; computing an average voltage by averaging the voltage between the magnetron's terminals; detecting an abnormal state by comparing the average voltage to a reference volt

  • Patent number: 5450312
Abstract: An automatic timbre control method and apparatus detect a sub-code representing a music pattern from a signal reproduced from a compact disc, analyze the music pattern depending on the sub-code in a microcomputer, read out a timbre mode coefficient from a coefficient ROM table depending on the analyzed music pattern, and apply the timbre mode coefficient to a digital equalizer so that equalizing can be controlled automatically. Thus, users need not frequently operate an equalizer depending on the input music pattern, and are able to listen music with better timbre quality.

  • Patent number: 5399518
Abstract: A method for manufacturing a double-cylindrical storage electrode of a capacitor of a semiconductor memory device, utilizes an outer etching mask for forming an outer cylinder and an inner etching mask for forming an inner cylinder. After forming a conductive structure on a semiconductor substrate, an outer etching mask for forming an outer cylinder and an inner etching mask for forming an inner cylinder are formed on the conductive structure. Then, the conductive structure is anisotropically etched using the outer and inner etching masks, thereby forming a double-cylindrical first electrode. Since a double-cylindrical storage electrode can be obtained from a single conductive layer, the influence of native oxidation circumvented. In addition, the double-cylindrical storage electrode of the capacitor according to the present invention decreases the risk of structural fragmenting because the electrode is obtained from one material layer, instead of a combination of layers as is conventionally-known.
