  • Patent number: 8637186
Abstract: An electrode for a battery and a method for manufacturing the same are disclosed. The electrode for a battery according to the present invention comprising silicon nanostructures integrally formed on a silicon thin film and having a period array can reduce the internal resistance, have better charge transport properties, and reduce the structural stress, thereby exhibiting high storage capacity, high efficiency charge/discharge characteristics, and long charge/discharge cycle characteristics. Moreover, the method for manufacturing the electrode for a battery according to the present invention can simply and easily form a nanopattern with nanostructures on a silicon thin film using laser interference lithography (LIL) and dry etching.

  • Publication number: 20130337335
Abstract: The present invention relates to a negative electrode material for a secondary battery and to a method for manufacturing same. The negative electrode material includes a graphite matrix and a plurality of tin-oxide nanorods disposed on the graphite matrix. Thus, when the negative electrode material is used as the negative electrode for a secondary battery, the negative electrode material may provide high initial capacity (1010 mAhg?1) and coulombic efficiency, superior rate capability, and improved electrochemical properties. Further, the method for manufacturing the negative electrode material for a secondary battery includes: a step of activating a surface of graphite; coating tin-oxide nanoparticles onto the activated surface of the graphite so as to form tin-oxide seed-type graphite; and heating the tin-oxide seed-type graphite using heated water in order to grow a plurality of tin-oxide nanorods.

  • Publication number: 20080176130
Abstract: Disclosed is a fuel composition for fuel cells with improved performance. In order to efficiently remove undesirable intermediates of a fuel cell that uses liquid oxygenated hydrocarbons as fuel thereof, polyoxometalate as an oxidation assistant is directly added to the fuel cell. Herein, polyoxometalate includes at least one redox reactive anion caused by dissolution of polyoxometalate in an organic medium containing solution and/or an aqueous solution. The intermediates generated during activating the fuel cell are efficiently oxidized and, additionally, carbon monoxide with the property of catalyst poisoning of electrode catalyst is eliminated, thereby accomplishing improvements in poisoning resistance of the catalyst and, in turn, performance of the fuel cell.
