Abstract: An image forming apparatus, a host apparatus, and an encryption method for print data, the method of encrypting the print data of the host apparatus connected to the image forming apparatus including: displaying an encryption setting screen for the print data; selecting an encryption logic to encrypt the print data through the encryption setting screen; converting the print data according to the selected encryption logic; and transmitting the converted print data to the image forming apparatus. Accordingly, the print data is encrypted and decrypted on the basis of the selected encryption logic and corresponding decryption logic set up according to users, thereby increasing security.

Abstract: A host apparatus usable with an image forming apparatus includes a data generating part that generates printing data of the image forming apparatus, a first host communicating part that performs local communication with the image forming apparatus, a second host communicating part that performs network communication with the image forming apparatus, and a host controller that receives network information of the image forming apparatus if the host apparatus is connected to the image forming apparatus via the first host communicating part, and transmits the printing data generated by the data generating part to the image forming apparatus via the second host communicating part based on the received network information.

Abstract: There is provided a method of storing an initial use date of a printer and informing the initial use date. To store the initial use date, it is determined whether the printer is used for the first time. If the printer is used for the first time, the initial use date is stored in a storage of the printer. Thus, a repairman can easily estimate a guarantee period for the printer based on the initial use date stored in the storage of the printer.

Abstract: A network printing system and a printing control method thereof are provided. The network printing system includes a plurality of hosts for selecting a delay for print data and transmitting the selected information together with the print data; and a network printer having a printing unit, a storage unit for spooling and storing the print data that is received from one of the plurality of hosts, and a control unit for controlling the printing unit so that the print data having the delay from among the print data that are stored in the storage unit is printed after the print data input subsequently is first printed. Accordingly, the printing efficiency can be improved by controlling the printing work so that the print data having the delay is printed when a network printer is in an idle state and the urgent print data is first processed.
