  • Publication number: 20060017592
Abstract: There are provided a method of context adaptive binary arithmetic coding (CABAC) and an apparatus of the same. The CABAC method includes generating a plurality of syntax elements respectively corresponding to a plurality of predetermined sized residual blocks included in an input block; grouping flags of each of the residual blocks which indicate whether a non-zero transform coefficient exists among the syntax elements; and context adaptive binary arithmetic coding the grouped flags. The complexity of context adaptive binary arithmetic coding is reduced, thereby performing context adaptive binary arithmetic coding more quickly and easily.

  • Publication number: 20060002476
Abstract: A method for eliminating discontinuity of block boundaries of an image encoded in units of blocks and an apparatus thereof. A filter for eliminating discontinuity of block boundaries of an image encoded in units of blocks with a predetermined size includes: a vertical edge filtering unit which eliminates the discontinuity in the vertical direction of the blocks, by filtering sequentially in units of blocks; a determination unit which determines a start point of discontinuity filtering in the horizontal direction according to a filtering mode of a macroblock formed with the blocks; and a horizontal edge filtering unit. If the vertical direction discontinuity filtering of the blocks is finished to the filtering start point determined by the determination unit, discontinuity filtering in the horizontal direction of the blocks is sequentially performed for which the vertical direction discontinuity filtering is finished. Accordingly, time taken for filtering is reduced and unnecessary memory is not required.

  • Publication number: 20050254794
Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling digital video recording where parameters related to encoding video frames that are being currently encoded are stored when a pause command is received during recording and the method and apparatus continually record, based on the stored parameters, when the pause command stops, and a camcorder including the pause function. The method includes: receiving a pause command; storing parameters related to encoding video frames that are presently being encoded in a memory, and then stop encoding video frames that are input after the parameters are stored in the memory; and encoding video frames that are input after receiving a pause release command using parameter information related to encoding when the pause release command is received. Thus, video recording efficiency can be improved by having the pause function.

  • Publication number: 20050036697
Abstract: A method of removing blocking artifacts from block-coded digital images and an image reproducing apparatus using the same remove blocking artifacts from a block-coded digital image. The method includes adjusting filtering offsets on a block-by-block basis using motion vector (MV) and quantization parameter (QP) values; and performing deblocking filtering to remove the blocking artifacts from a decoded digital image using the adjusted filtering offsets. Accordingly, since the filtering offsets may be adaptively adjusted on a block-by-block basis to fit image characteristics, the blocking artifacts may be efficiently removed, thus, improving image quality.

  • Publication number: 20040140978
Abstract: Provided are a method and apparatus for accelerating graphic data which can reduce the computational complexity of graphic processing data. The method of accelerating two-dimensional graphic data includes: receiving information regarding the width of a graphic window to be processed; reading pixel data from a memory in which pixel data in the graphic window is stored; receiving information regarding two pixel data regions which are divided from the memory area based on the width information of the graphic window, one pixel data region to be processed using a burst mode and the other pixel data region to be processed in units of bytes; and individually performing predetermined graphic processing on the divided pixel data regions.

  • Publication number: 20040012614
Abstract: A scaling apparatus and method for zooming in or out a video or graphic window is provided. The scaling apparatus includes a source data input unit to which source data is input; a serial output unit serially outputting display data included in the source data; a scaling unit scaling the serially output display data according to a scaling ratio included in the source data; and a scaled display data output unit outputting the scaled display data. The scaling speed of the scaling apparatus is increased by processing an application for zooming in or out a video or graphic window in hardware. Further, the internal memory size of a scaler is reduced by serially scaling. In addition, scaling on desktop can be carried out under the mobile environment which is small and lightweight.

  • Publication number: 20030052977
Abstract: An apparatus which processes a digital image and a method therefor which can reduce an error when calculating an output value obtained by interpolating pixel values of the input digital image. The apparatus includes an interpolation processing unit which interpolates an input digital image, and a controller which measures an interpolation interval of pixel values of the digital image, calculates a coefficient by substituting the interpolation interval for a coefficient equation stored in a register, and calculates an interpolation node for the digital image by substituting the coefficient and an output pixel position value of the digital image for an interpolation node calculation equation. The controller controls the interpolation processing unit so as to interpolate the digital image to the interpolation node. As a result, it is possible to reduce an error between an interpolated output pixel position value and an output pixel position value for the pixel values of the input digital image.
