  • Publication number: 20070133625
Abstract: Provided is an all-fiber laser device oscillating in a mid-infrared wavelength band. The laser device uses a non-silica optical fiber for a gain medium. The non-silica optical fiber includes a core doped with a rare element having an energy transition level corresponding to the mid-infrared wavelength band. A Fabry-Parrot resonator or a ring-shaped resonator may be installed in the non-silica optical fiber. Alternatively, a silica optical fiber may be coupled to both ends of the non-silica optical fiber, and a Fabry-Parrot resonator or a ring-shaped resonator may be installed in the silica optical fiber.

  • Publication number: 20070133626
Abstract: Provided is a mid-infrared Raman optical fiber laser system that oscillates in a 3.0 to 4.0 ?m range using a high power laser in a near-infrared wavelength region and a silica optical fiber as a pump light source and a gain medium, respectively. The system includes a plurality of pairs of FBGs (Fiber Bragg Gratings) that are disposed at either end of an optical fiber inducing Raman scattering and obtains a lasing wavelength using a plurality of stokes shifts generated by energy decrease of about 1330 cm?1 during the Raman scattering; and a pump light source that is disposed at one end of FBG pair and induces the Raman scattering in the optical fiber.

  • Publication number: 20070002431
Abstract: Provided are a tellurite glass composite, an optical waveguide, and an optical amplifier using the tellurite glass composite. The tellurite glass composite includes an entire composite including 25(mol %)?TeO2?90(mol %), 1(mol %)?T1O355(mol %) or 1(mol %)?T2O3?40(mol %), 0(mol %)?ZnO?35(mol %), 0(mol %)?M2O?35(mol %), and 0(mol %)?Bi2O3?20(mol %). Here, T1 includes a transition metal Mo, T2 includes a transition metal W, M2O includes Li2O, Na2O, or two or more of Li2O, Na2O, K2O, Rb2O, and Cs2O including metals having +1 valence electrons, and amounts of M2O and ZnO are not simultaneously “0.

  • Publication number: 20060082865
Abstract: Provided is an all-optical gain-clamped fiber amplifier, comprising transmission and isolation means for periodically transmitting an optical signal or reflecting amplified spontaneous emission (ASE) back to a gain medium. The transmission and isolation means can be embodied by an optical interleaver or a number of optical fiber Bragg gratings. Accordingly, an optical signal can be amplified across the entire C-band, and an ASE reflector-based gain-clamped fiber amplifier having a wider dynamic range than conventional amplifiers can be implemented.
