Abstract: Disclosed herein is a drum type washing machine designed to continuously raise and drop wash water during washing operation to enhance washing efficiency. The drum type washing machine includes a tub to hold wash water, a rotational drum rotatably installed in the tub, and a water raising unit having a plurality of water pockets equipped in a rotating direction of the rotational drum to an inner rear side of the rotational drum to raise and drop the wash water when the rotational drum is rotated.

Abstract: A drum washing machine in which laundry-separated substances, introduced into a gap of a packing member sealing an inlet of the washing machine during a washing process, are easily eliminated. The drum washing machine includes a main body having an entrance hole for placing laundry therein and a door opening and closing the entrance hole, a tub installed in the main body and having an opening corresponding to the entrance hole, a packing member to seal a space between the opening of the tub and the entrance hole. The packing member including a bending portion in which laundry-separate substances accumulate, and a recess adjacent to the bending portion, wherein the recess is formed in a user contactable position on the packing member for assisting in easy elimination of the laundry-separated substances accumulated in the bending portion.

Abstract: A method of controlling a dishwasher, which heats air in a washing chamber while supplying water into the washing chamber to generate hot water through a heat exchange between the heated air and the supplied water. Further, a second method of controlling a dishwasher operates an air generator while starting of the supplying of water into a washing chamber to heat the supplied water and air in the washing chamber. If a temperature of the water in the washing chamber exceeds a first reference value, the supplying of water is stopped and the air generator is operated. If a temperature of the air in the washing chamber exceeds a second reference value, the supplying of water is started.

Abstract: A dishwasher having an air generator is provided. In an operation of the dishwasher, air of a washing chamber is heated by a heater and, at a same time, water is fed into the washing chamber. Therefore, kitchen utensils and the water contained in the washing chamber are heated by heat exchanged from the heated air. Since the dishwasher primarily heats the air having a relatively lower specific heat and, thereafter, heats the water having a relatively higher specific heat by the heat of the heated air to produce hot water, the dishwasher reduces time consumption and improves an energy efficiency of the dishwasher during a dishwashing operation, and lengthens a life span of the heater.

Abstract: A dishwasher that is provided with an improved soundproofing structure to reduce the manufacturing cost of the dishwasher and accomplish an improved soundproofing effect in comparison with conventional dishwashers. The disclosed dishwasher includes a washing tub provided in a cabinet. A basket is provided in the washing tub to hold dishes therein. A washing pump pressurizes wash water contained in the washing tub. An injection nozzle sprays wash water supplied from the washing pump. A soundproofing unit with a net structure is installed in the washing tub in such a way as to be spaced apart from the inner surface of the washing tub, thus dispersing wash water sprayed from the injection nozzle while reducing pressure of the wash water.

Abstract: An oscillatory agitator for a clothes washing machine includes an upstanding washing rod comprised of a plurality of telescopingly arranged rod members which are relatively vertically movable to enable the height of the washing rod to be varied. Raising of the rod members is achieved by making a rod member buoyant, whereby it automatically floats upward to a level dependent upon the height of the wash water.
