  • Publication number: 20180167266
Abstract: In an embodiment, a method of medium access control in a co-ordinator node of a body area network is disclosed. The body area network comprises the co-ordinator node and a plurality of sensor nodes. Each of the sensor nodes comprises a sensor and is configured to wirelessly communicate with the co-ordinator node in time slots defined by a plurality of medium access control super-frames. The method comprises receiving at the co-ordinator node, a signal from a first sensor node of the plurality of sensor nodes, the signal comprising an indication of a measured quantity at the first sensor node, the measured quantity being indicative of an attribute of a wireless link of the body area network between the first sensor node and the co-ordinator node; estimating an attribute of the link using the indication; and configuring parameters of a medium access control superframe using the estimated attribute.

  • Patent number: 9083461
Abstract: Localization of an electronic device is enabled by establishing a localization environment wherein sources of visible light are configured to modulate onto emitted light a detectable signal, each signal bearing information identifying that light source, such that light incident on a device can be processed to identify particular sources of incident light and therefrom the location of the device.

  • Patent number: 8761682
Abstract: A method of interference management in a wireless network includes determining a level of interference within a wireless receiver and transmitting a signal indicative of excessive interference. Within a wireless transmitter, a beam forming vector or a sub-set of transmitter antenna is randomly selected from a set of transmitter antenna available to the transmitter and switching signal transmission from a preceding transmission mode to a transmission mode using the selected beamforming vector or the selected antenna sub-set, following receipt of a signal indicative of excessive interference. It is then determined, within the receiver, whether a level of interference has improved since the transmission of the signal. If not, a signal indicative of a deterioration of said level of interference is sent. If the signal indicative of a deterioration of the level of interference is received at the transmitter, the transmitter reverts to using the preceding transmission mode for signal transmission.

  • Publication number: 20110182336
Abstract: A method for determining a signal vector comprising a plurality of components from a received signal vector is provided comprising generating an estimation of the signal vector; determining a channel matrix characterizing the communication channel via which the signal vector was received; carrying out a plurality of determination iterations based on the channel matrix, wherein for each iteration a first set of possible sub-vectors of the signal vector is determined based on a second set of possible sub-vectors for the previous iteration and from the first set of possible sub-vectors, a number of sub-vectors is selected based on the distance of the sub-vectors to the estimated signal vector according to a pre-selected metric to form a strict subset of the first set as the second set of possible sub-vectors for the iteration; determining the signal vector based on a possible sub-vector for the last iteration.
