Abstract: The invention provides compositions and methods for determining the likelihood of gender-specific successful treatment with 5-FU/oxaliplatin or an equivalent of each thereof. The methods comprise determining the genomic polymorphism present in a predetermined region of a gene of interest and correlating the polymorphism to the predictive response. Patients identified as responsive are then treated with the appropriate therapy.

Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for treating a foot using a medical shoe and interchangeable insoles. A plurality of interchangeable insoles is provided, including a surgical insole and a wound care insole. The surgical insole provides rigidity for a patient's foot. The surgical insole comprises a first upper layer and a rigid second lower layer. The wound care insole offloads weight from a wound region on the foot. The wound care insole comprises a first upper layer of stretchy, thin film, a second, middle, layer that is moldable, and a third, lower layer that is spongy and provides support.

Abstract: A night splint for a user's foot having a frame member and a toe retainer that is releasably connected to the frame member. The toe retainer is configured to dorsiflex at least one toe of the user to allow for a dynamic stretch of the plantar fascia and to provide a low load stretch of the Achilles tendon, plantar fascia tendon, deep flexor muscles and calf muscles to relieve symptoms of plantar fasciitis.

Abstract: A device and method for treating a foot and ankle with a splint and an adjustable bladder. The method includes providing a device including a rigid splint that maintains a heel of the foot and at least one adjustable bladder provided underneath only a front of the foot; adjusting an inflation of the at least one bladder to a treatment inflation state; and maintaining a foot and ankle within the device for an extended period of time such that the foot and ankle are substantially immobilized in a dorsiflexion position or the foot and ankle are substantially immobilized in a position whereby plantarflexion is provided to the ankle.

Abstract: An apparatus of generating an output code stream includes a first bit repeater to repeat an incoming code stream, a second bit repeater to repeat a first parity bit stream of the incoming code stream, and a third bit repeater to repeat a second parity bit stream of the incoming code stream. A multiplexer is coupled to the first, second, and third bit repeaters to combine the repeated incoming code stream, the repeated first parity bit stream, and the repeated second parity bit stream to generate the output code stream that is optimally-repeated from the incoming code stream and its parity bit streams. A method of generating an optimally-repeated output code stream from an incoming code and its parity bit streams is also described.

The base defines receiving recesses in longitudinal two ends thereof. Each clamping arm includes a pivotable section at one end thereof received in the receiving recess, a pressing section extending from the pivotable section to the center of the base, and a fixed section formed at the other end thereof. The pressing section is adapted to press a cable against an upper surface of the base. The locking piece is disposed on the base and bears against the fixed section of the clamping arm for securely retaining the clamping arm on the base. The cable clamp has a small and simple configuration which can steadily clamp cables, load and unload the cables rapidly and precisely.

Abstract: A method for separating a metallic braid from a core wire of a micro coaxial cable during connecting the coaxial cable to a printed circuit board (PCB) is disclosed. The coaxial cable includes a sheath surrounding the metallic braid and the inner conductor. An apparatus for performing the method includes a rotiform brush, a spin shaft extending through the rotiform brush and an electrical motor for driving the spin shaft and the rotiform brush. The rotiform brush includes a circular frame and a plurality of densely arranged hard brushings attached to the frame.

The lower block has a jig plane (20) in which a plurality of receiving grooves (22) is defined. The wires of the round cable are placed into the receiving grooves of the lower block. An adhesive strip (5) is placed onto insulative sheaths of the wires. The upper block is moved downwardly to depress the adhesive strip against the insulative sheaths. Simultaneously, the adhesive strip is heated so that it partly melts and integrally joins with the insulative sheaths.
