Abstract: A method and system for adding overtime to a video recording are described. The method and system include providing a personal video recorder (PVR) operative to record a video stream, providing a multimedia content item on the video stream, providing metadata accessible to the PVR, the metadata being associated with the multimedia content item and including at least a first metadata item and a second metadata item, recording the multimedia content item at the PVR for a first amount of time, the first amount of time being indicated by the first metadata item, continuing to record the multimedia content item after the end of the first amount of time, for a second amount of time based, at least in part, on at least one parameter in the second metadata item. Related methods and apparatus are also described.

Abstract: A mobile station that includes a smart card associated with a mobile host equipment communicates by means of a protocol that is organized in several layers. These layers include at least a data transport layer of the datagram type that is adapted to transmit integral data packets of a maximum size. The transmission method carries out the step of determining the value of the maximum size of data packets that are capable of being integrally transmitted by the transport layer of the mobile host equipment, and storing that value in the card.

Abstract: The method according to the invention is mainly implemented in terminal devices of an interactive digital TV system. The method comprises a step for storing in a cache memory of the terminal device information transported in a data stream of the system. The method also comprises a step consisting in searching, according to at least one predefined selection criterion, for requested information in at least one of the information carriers formed by the data stream and the cache memory. The method finds it preferred application in interactive digital TV systems compliant with the MPEG-DVB standards. Preferably, the information and/or MPEG tables are stored in the cache memory according to a structural organization similar to that of the information and/or MPEG tables in the data stream. The invention provides the application programs with optimal access to the MPEG tables and service information.

Abstract: The invention concerns a data transmission method in accordance with a communication protocol from a mobile station (10) consisting of a smart card (SIM) associated with a mobile host equipment (ME), said protocol being organised in several layers including at least a data transport layer of the datagram type adapted to transmit integrally data packets (D) of a maximum size (MDS). The invention is characterised in that said transmission method comprises a step which consists, for the card (SIM), in determining the value of said maximum size of data packets (MDS) capable of being integrally transmitted by the transport layer of its mobile host equipment (ME).
