  • Patent number: 8371245
Abstract: A floating fish production system for placement within a body of water and being structured and disposed for containing fish and other aquatic animal, plant and algal species, the system including at least one primary containment tank having an arrangement of individual solid wall sections and an arrangement of individual solid floor sections. Flexible membranes span between and connect to adjacently positioned solid wall and floor sections to define flexible connecting joints that allow the individual solid wall and floor sections to move relative to one another in an articulating action. The flexible membranes allow the tank configuration to temporarily deform from a relaxed state in response to externally applied forces exerted on the tank (e.g., waves, wind, current) to thereby absorb the externally applied forces and reduce stress on the structural integrity on the tank.

  • Publication number: 20080075818
Abstract: A method of producing a high-protein insect meal for use as a fish, shrimp and animal feed by providing a closed, environmentally controlled mass insect production facility into which are introduced one or more species of insects that are rich in protein and particularly suited for use in fish, shrimp and animal feeds. The insects can be chosen from, but not limited to, the orders of Blattodea, Orthoptera, Diptera, or Lepidoptera. Also, the chosen insects can be of the species moths, butterflies, flies, beetles and crickets. The insects are then fed a food source which can be vegetable, grain, plant, or animal components, and fish and animal wastes. Upon reaching the desired life stage, the insects are harvested and then processed into a dried protein meal.

  • Publication number: 20080006541
Abstract: A carrier shell and a central divider are molded of a resin composition and are assembled to form a beverage bottle carrier. The carrier shell is molded in a flat sheet with living hinges between a bottom panel, opposite side panels and end panel sections that are operatively positionable by folding at the living hinges to form a generally rectangular box configuration with an open top. Male and female tabs on the carrier shell interface with the central divider and interlockingly engage to secure the carrier in the box configuration with the central divider extending parallel between the opposite sides. Secondary dividers extend between the opposite sides and the central divider to form individual bottle compartments for placement of beverage bottle therein. The bottom of the carrier may include recesses for receiving the tops of bottles stored in a like carrier directly below the upper positioned bottle carrier to thereby facilitate vertical stacking of the bottle carriers when filled with beverage bottles.
